Same with Bass fishing...
OK, Now I’m kidding ;)

No, not really! Bass fishing requires physical prowess as well. I confess, not as much as other sports, but physical prowess nonetheless. But really, if we're not ready to accept bass fishing as a form of athleticism, we need to ask ourselves why, and seek to find some standard by which we can say that one kind or degree of physical activity is athletic and another kind or degree is not.

Simple! The standard is that if you can partake in the ‘sport’ while simultaneously “casually” drinking a beer, You might be Redneck... but not an athlete ... how’s that? ;)

It's according to what kind of bass fishing...Riding around in a boat don't require much athleticism....But hiking down a 1 1/2 mile powerline carrying a backpack with about 20 pounds of gear and a handful of rigs....through the grass, snakes, saw briars, bugs...then wading into the marsh with the snapping turtles...That'll make you sweat.
