I saw one "Dirty Jobs" epi, and the host, Mike, was being a
lava "checker" in Hawaii.

He was maneuvering to stick about a 1m long probe into a rivulet of
fairly fresh lava, and his overseer said "..and try to keep the probe
moving, or you'll never get it out, and they cost $XXX..."
