Texas governor and potential Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry says he supports state rights so much that he's fine with New York allowing gay marriage.
Perry told several hundred potential GOP donors in Aspen, Colo., on Friday that he's an "unapologetic fiscal conservative" and opposes gay marriage but that he's also a strong believer in the 10th Amendment.
He says New York's decision is "their business" and that's fine with him.

Perhaps Gov Perry is not familiar with Article IV Section I.
One state's actions will radically impact every other state.

I do understand that in a legal sense, he is correct, but it is up to each of us in every state to oppose this and also any attempts by various rogue judges.

Perry is stating the Constitutional position.
If he takes the Constitutional position on all subjects, and not just homosexual “marriage,” then this is a good thing.

"He says New York's decision is "their business" and that's fine with him." This bozo has no busniness being in politics, let alone as a governor. Marriage has been defined as a union between one man and one woman in law dictionarys. So better watch this bozo. He's apt to arbitrarily change other definitions to suit his agenda.

I hate to say this, and I'm donning my flame retardant suit, but I agree with Good Hair here. Restraining the fedgov behemoth is more important than the gay marriage (and divorce - few people think of that side) issue. And yes, I understand the “full faith and credit” side of this issue. It's a fairly close call IMHO. To me, it comes down to the fact that marriage would be protected in some states, which will then thrive. It's the whole idea behind our form of government. That, and an all powerful fedgov would render family - and thus marriage - irrelevant...

I don’t like it either, but I have to agree with you that the Feds will only be stopped by states rights and Perry seems to get that. The national electorate who is now generally Godless have already let us down but conservative states are trying to “hold the line” (as Erik Erikson says, over and over).
