Arizona Sen. John McCains floor speech on Wednesday denouncing the negotiating tactics of some tea party-aligned members of Congress raises the question as to whether the famed maverick is back to his old tricks.
(snip)
McCains comments (and the controversy they caused) raise an intriguing question: Has McCain the straight-talking maverick been reborn?
(snip)
The McCain as maverick meme was cemented as he emerged as one of the few Republicans during the first part of the last decade to speak up in opposition to Bush and his own party in Washington. McCains most notable apostasy during that time was his successful push for campaign finance reform.
(snip)
McCain allies insist that there is no difference between the McCain of 2010 and the man who took to the Senate floor on Wednesday to deride some within the tea party movement.
I dont buy into wheres the old McCain/the old McCain is back stuff, said one supporter. Hes always who he is.

FUJM!!!
Did you hear him on Greta? “My dearly beloved friend” meaning his other half in the senate. Then the other half appears on Greta taking the opposite viewpoint. These guys have been working in tandum for years. I missed the full interview but when they’re taking opposite sides they’re working on something...
McCain is the poster child for Term Limits!
We have Sarah to thank for him to. She musta owed him big time or he has TONS of dirt on her.
Except that he has multi-personalities...and all of them liberal.
Yes, I saw that. I switched channels and didn’t see his butt buddy Lindsey.
McCain is kissing lib rear, maybe he’s hoping Howdy Doody will pick him as his VP running mate. True colors.
I guess we can now see McQueeg on all the Sunday morning talk shows bad mouthing the Tea Party members and Conservative Republicans. I can still remember him stabbing Bush in the back at every opportunity. The liberals just loved him and could not wait to get him in front of the cameras spewing his nonsense.
Yeah, well his term was up at the first of this year. Sadly a number of Republicans, one in particular endorsed the man.
One the bight side, we have only a little more than half a decade until we faces the voters again.
I’m sure someone will find a reason to trash his opponent in the primaries then too.
I know he says he’s not running again, but I think they’ll have to pry his cold fingers off his desk to get him out of there for good.
I expect liberals to love him. It’s the Republicans who lined up to endorse him that struck me as odd. And then watching folks here rip Hayworth to shreds for the few things they could find really baffled me.
And then ignoring this:

Just damn!
He threw all kinds of crap at JD Hayworth, but wouldn’t say a disparaging word against the community organizer.
This is a guy who lost big to Barack Obama, the fraud of all frauds.
Need we say more?
FWF
A Tea Party Hobbit and damn proud of it!
So Maverick is a euphemism for backstabbing, pain in the ass.
Man! I read that whole list. To think this guy could have been POTUS - he wouldn’t have been any better than what we’ve got.
JOHN MCCAIN = backstabber not maverick, what utter bullcrap!
And the Hobbits were chosen because they were the only ones that could be trusted. So McCain is admitting that only the Tea Party can be trusted.
