I’ll say it because no one yet has.
Elections have consequences. This is what people voted for.
Maybe they didn’t understand the specifics but all they needed to do was pay attention to the Joe the Plumber incident. They didn’t. So because they were too lazy to ask questions (”What does redistribute wealth mean???”) or hated George Bush SO much or wanted to feel supergood about being part of the ultimate act of affirmative action—this is what we get. What’s being redistributed is suffering. Now we all suffer because 53% of the country went to the polls and left their brains at home.
Some jobs will be gone for good. Forever. Not coming back. It’s too late to change that. No matter who is president in 2013, those industries are not returning to America because they will be settled and functioning elsewhere.
Oh well. Learn to do with less. Michelle Obama is. Oh wait, she’s not.

Not only that, but I have seen places where the factories were razed to bare land to lower the property taxes. Try building a new plant with all the existing regulations.

We're at the end of an era and America will never again be the manufacturing and economic giant it once was. Even if the Republicans win in the next election, nothing much will change. There will be a temporary upward spike as businesses breathe a sigh of relief but the stagnation will continue. The country became great because we MADE things. Now we are relegated to taking in each others' laundry. Welcome to the Service Economy.
