50 flood affects families still living in tents at Charsadda

Peshawar, 8 August 2011, fifty families of different areas of Charsadda district were living in tents at sugar mill road Charsadda. These people lost their home in flood last year and they are waiting here for government support.

These people living in tents like a Gipsy, their children didn’t eat well even in month of Ramadan. No one check the status of these people, why they are living in tents.

80 children were playing here in tents. Most of the children age between 3 to 9 years. 50 percent were students when flood affect their life. Flood not only disturbs their life, they also lost their books in flood.

Their parents working in daily basis at Charsadda Market to feed their families, they earn 300 rupees (4 Dollars) per day and some time they didn’t eat well.

The Resident of Fayanda Khel , Farman Ali one of them whose lost his house last year in flood , he didn’t have money to construct his home , so currently he with his family living in tents, Along with 3 children 7 year old Sidra and 3 year old Bahram Khan.

Talking to journalist Farman Ali Said that last year flood disturbed my family life; I lost not only my home, but also live stock, which was my main source of income. He said that I am living the constituency of (ANP) Awami National Party leader Asfandyar Wali Khan, but flood change all things and from 28 July 2010 till august 2011 No political leader came here to see my life.

He blamed that government and relief agencies constructed home of those people whose have link with political parties. Poor people like me who have no political background will always affect. Farman Ali said that even living in tents it’s my wish that my daughter continue study, but I don’t have money.

Asking about current situation Seven year Sidra Said, I don’t know what will happen; in early days of Flood we don’t have cloths, food. She said that some NGOs give them food. She said that people around me change, some people return to their homes and we still here, it’s hurt me. God Know when we will return to our homes and I studied.

Look we have a Americans living under bridges. We need to help our own first. We have folks who were flooded out of homes from the upper Missouri River to the lower Missisippi.
Add the cities destroyed by tornadoes,too. We need to take care of our own first.

Problem is, if they are not holders people, or in a blue state. DC is not real interested in them.
