The Virginia State Bar says an agreed disposition will be presented Monday during a hearing for York-Poquoson Commonwealth's Attorney Eileen Addison on charges she mishandled the prosecution of three men in the 2006 shooting death of a JamesCity man. Virginia State Bar Disciplinary Clerk Lanier said Addison, her attorney and Virginia State Bar Counsel Montgomery have negotiated an agreed disposition--which is similar to a plea agreement--that will be considered by a five-member panel during the conference call hearing. But Addison said Wednesday there is no deal. "I asked my attorney two weeks ago why the hearing was still scheduled because there is no plea agreement," Addison said. "They won't show me discovery and I'm not going to make a decision without seeing the evidence." The misconduct charges stem from the prosecution of Carlos Chapman, Marquis Edwards and Kwaume Edwards for the murder of Michael Tyler. The charges allege that Addison and attorney Walter negotiated a plea agreement for Chapman, in return for his testimony against Kwaume Edwards, but kept it from Edwards' attorney. Addison denies the misconduct charges and wrote in her 11-page response to the charges that she did not offer Chapman a deal, nor did anyone in her office. Lanier said she has a signed disposition that will be reviewed at the disciplinary hearing at 10 a.m. Monday. The panel -- which includes four attorneys and a lay person -- will decide whether to accept the proposed agreement, Lanier said. If the deal is rejected, the case will move forward and be heard by a different panel in September. Addison has always requested a three-judge panel to hear the case. Addision, who is running for re-election, said she thinks the state bar is purposely pushing through this hearing so it could take place before the Aug 23 primary.

Vote for Hahn on 23 Aug in the York County, VA Republican Primary. Even if you're a democrat VA has open primaries and you are welcome to vote against this sleezy prosecutor. If somehow Hahn doesn't win...if a democrat is running against her I will be voting for the democrat--regardless of who it is (that's how bad she is).
Also you can absentee vote now--just go to the registrar's office at 224 Ballard St and bring an ID.
Marquis Edwards graduated in my daughter`s class in Williamsburg. He gave a great valedictory address and I remembered thinking about this very bright young black man, “what a great role model; he`s going to go far..” The next time I heard about him was when he was charged in the shooting. It was a real disappointment to see that come about.
Of course I can`t vote in York Co; I`m across the Coleman in Gloucester Point.
