WASHINGTON (AP) -- Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid announced Tuesday he's naming Sen. Patty Murray to co-chair a powerful "super committee" charged with finding more than $1 trillion in deficit cuts this fall.
Murray will be joined by Sens. John Kerry, D-Mass., and Max Baucus, D-Mont., on the panel, which was established last week by hard-fought legislation to increase the national debt.

So, Reid went with intelligence and experience.
LOL. So much for the idea that the panelists weren’t going to be hard liners.
It’ll be great! What could go wrong?
Well, I see the Dems are going to their “A” team. /s
We are doomed.
Was she chosen for her brains or her body and looks?
Evidently he selected her because she has a pulse
What could possibly go wrong with this crew? If only Obama had appointed a bipartisan commission to make recommendations about the budget earlier. Wait a minute - I’m suddenly getting the feeling that we’ve been down this road before.
Does anyone with even a quarter of a brain believe this Kabuki theater at this point??????
I nominate, Paul Ryan, Ron Paul and Jim DeMint from our side.
The Osama Mama.
Isn’t Jon Kerry a hero of the communist victory in Vietnam?
Is this unconstitutional piece of crap going to be challenged by anyone?
A borderline retarded Super-Hack.
This was what I expected. Three hardliners from the Democrats. And then McConnell and Boner will stick their heads together and come up with three RINOs to match them.
How about McCain and Graham for starters?
He will put Scott Brown of MA on it, since Brown is up for reelection in ‘12. Brown is as much or more of a RINO than any Republican in the Senate. It will almost be like appointing a fourth Dem, but I bet $ McConnell will do it.
I nominate, Paul Ryan, Ron Paul and Jim DeMint from our side.
I totally get that it is confusing understanding the House and Senate and people confuse this all the time, but those folks you mentioned cannot be on the panel. Only Senate folks.
Wrong. The committee will have 12 members, six from the House and six from the Senate.
I know that these three want be chosen, but your post really makes me smile. Just think about the possibilities. :-)
