He may as well. This will be the last election before California collapses into an insolvent state of spear throwing, Mad Maxian anarchy. We’ll be too busy salvaging stuff from all the Mexicans that went South for a better job market, engaging in inter-yacht-club piracy, and setting up ambushes on the 405 to have time to vote.

A generation ago, Republican Presidential candidates, President Reagan in particular, competed coast to coast: New Jersey, California, states that have become, now, reliably democratic. If you ran would you aspire to campaign in California and win that in the general election?
Yes sir, I actually have had that conversation. Now Im enough of a realist to know that California is a pretty high hurdle for a Republican. But Im going to go out there and Im going to have a story thatll [make] a lot of peopleIndependents and maybe even some Democratslook at me and go, Thats the type of individual that we can get behind. You know to make America proud of itself again. I think America is an exceptional country. I think we have a great story to tell. I think the world needs a strong America both economically and militarily.

California is LOST to the GOP. Check with “moderates” Meg Whitman and Carly Fiorina.

All joking aside, if Perry forces Obama to try to defend California, it's pretty much science that Obama is so far underwater he'll need to play defense even to keep the Blue strongholds safe.
This is an aggressive shot over the DNC bow and I freaking like it.

I hardly expect candidates to concede Cali over a year before the election.
What Perry actually said was that he would campaign there and expected to win some support from Indies & Dems. No mention of wasting tens of millions in futile advertising.

Big mistake. Every election, Republicans waste millions of dollars on California that should be used elsewhere.

I’d vote for Perry or Romney - my two top choices with all the rest, including those not running, not able to win.

He just has to tell California how much they’re business climate sucks vs. Texas and he’ll have an audiance.

I just listened to the second clip there, it appears the myth propagated by most Perry supporters at FR that he is at odds with the Bush family is patently false. Perry says he has a close personal relationship with the entire family in this interview.
Interesting, yes?

he would not be my first choice but if he is the GOP choice I will work very hard for him.
There is no 1005 idlea candidate that will appeal to everyone but Perry will come across as pretty attractive to many.
Califronia!!! How funny, didn’t they just vote to do away with the electoral system in their state?
meaning they will apportion their votes based on % of votes cast
SO whoever the GOP candidate is will get some calif electoral votes.
calif screwed themselves
Texas, as second biggest block of electoral votes did NOT change so no matter how many votes the loser ( 0dumbo)get he will not gt a single texas electoral vote
YeeHaw
