I actually felt pretty confident about this turning out well when I saw the story on the news.
I was pretty sure this would be a successful search. I’m reading it to my troop Monday and we’re going to discuss what he did right and what he did wrong.
Right-Shelter, mud bed
Wrong-No buddy system, no ten essentials in the wilderness, kept walking when he knew he was lost. 5 miles is a long way to go. Rescue would have been over 10-15 hours sooner had he just parked.
Glad for a happy ending, a great adventure and proper training for survival.
