Police, firemen and rescue workers who risked their lives to save the victims of 9/11 will not be invited to take part in the 10th anniversary ceremony.
Despite giving up hours, days and weeks of their time to search for survivors and clear rubble, unpaid, rescuers are to be snubbed at next month's remembrance events.
First responders will instead be asked back to the site at another day for a separate commemorative ceremony, according to officials.
Space and security logistics were at the heart of the decision, the New York Daily News reported.
The loved ones of those killed in the 2001 atrocities will receive first priority at the maximum security event.

I’m having a hard time believing this
Well, now that the truth about 911 is known why invite them? After all, according the left, it was all our fault and done by Bush just to make Islam look bad. /s
BS
And the first we are learning of this colossal snub is from a UK newspaper?
“President Obama will be the first sitting President to attend the annual remembrance, heightening security concerns.”
Obama needs another election photo-op, ala Dover Air Force base salute.
I don’t care. If they lived, they don’t quite qualify for hero status, since they were doing what they got paid for.
It’s not heroic when you do what you’re being paid to do, unless you directly put your life on the line. While some first responders were heroes that day, the vast majority were not.
Even if a person was a hero that day, it lessons their acts if they whine about things afterwards. I’m not saying any of them are, at the moment, but if they do, it shows their shallowness.
I’m about sick and tired of the whole 911 thing anyway. It was tragic, it was sad, but life goes on.
I probably wouldn’t be as jaded if the 911 families wouldn’t have received buttloads of our tax money, which they had no right to.
Something tells me I might regret posting this.... lol
You should regret it !!!
As far as I can tell, they aren't referring to themselves as such. Typical.
Much like the veterans I've met. None call themselves heroes. They only refer to their fellow vets as such.
I get what you're saying though - and I think you're right about possibly needing asbestos pajamas. ;^)
If I were a first responer, Id be organizing a sit-out on the day the authorities designated as first responder day.
I’m not surprised at all because the powers that be are going to turn it into a Muslim lovefest and whitewash the terrorism. First responders who waded through the death and carnage may not silently sit there and accept that since they say the true horror. Thus they are benched.
edit = SAW the true horror.
Thanks InvisibleChurch. G’night all. That was a short 30 hours away from the web.
And, only 9/11 families who support Obama and hated Bush will be allowed.
Those who have been critical of Obama’s role in the WOT and are conservatives will be disbarred from the ceremony.
They are paid to do their jobs, but they are not paid to die for their jobs.
Anybody who went beyond the call and duty to ensure people get out alive, even if the attempt is nearly futile is a hero, paid or not.
Or maybe he can stop by and lend his support for a new mosque in the neighborhood.
I doubt there is anything more to this story than that. If it was a case of room lacking, they could have chosen a select number of people from the various organizations to reflect everybody.
It’s merely a get together by pompous individuals who will be claiming credit they don’t deserve.
Yeah, your a ass. Congratulations on reaching your pinnacle.
So the only heroes are dead heroes? You made light of knowing you'd get flamed, but really, you sound like a malcontent who wishes you had been afforded hero status for doing something sometime in your life that was entirely un-noteworthy.
Oh really?
Were you there that day? Did you watch your fellow fireman and thousands of people die when the buildings collapsed? Were you breathing in the fume and dust laden air? Did you crawl over sharp steel and stones to try to save someone? Did you climb over tons of debris to find your friends or someone elsess loved ones? Did you pick-up parts that used to be a viable human being and take those nightmares home with you? Did you watch people jumping out of windows only to fall right in front of you and splatter on the ground?
Those men did and some are dying now because of it. They are heroes, real heroes. You should be ashamed of yourself and sorry for the words you spoke here!
