Karl Rove Slams Perry For Fed "Treason" Comments
Slate ^ | August 16, 2011 | Josh Voorhees

Posted on 08/16/2011 11:36:11 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

Rick Perry's "treason" comments are drawing sharp criticism from a wide range of political observers and talking heads, among them Karl Rove.

"You don't accuse the chairman of the Federal Reserve of being a traitor to his country. Of being guilty of treason," Rove, who has clashed with Perry before, told Fox News (via TPM). "And, suggesting that we treat him pretty ugly in Texas — You know, that is not, again a presidential statement."

Rove continued: "If Rick Perry were to be elected president he'd be saddled with Ben Bernanke who has a term. He's an independent chairman of the Federal Reserve Board, appointed by president and confirmed by Congress and serves for a term and the president couldn't even ask him to resign. So, this is — I hope this is not the first of sort of over the top statements."

Politico has a roundup of reactions from some other prominent George W. Bush allies, none of whom had nice things to say about Perry's comments.

But if we had evidence that he had surreptitiously played with our money supply in order to try to get OBama re-elected, we could charge him with treason and try him and convict him, and then he’d be out of his position.

It sounds like Rove is defending Bernanke, the FED-eral counterfeiter.

It’s all about Romney methinks. The establishment wants him. So they go after the others. What the heck are they thinking. Meanwhile - Perry is nothing special, cept a purdy face and all. People are stupid in my opinion.

Bernanke met with Obama around September 2010 just before announcing QE II. I’ve always believed that the Obama Administration has been calling the shots at the FED.

He can be a bomb thrower. :)

We need some fireworks to shake up the Rino business as usual. McCain would not attack Obama’s radicalism at all and that is why we ended up with him. His staff was busy, like Rove, attacking our side - Palin.

I am pretty tired of everyone walking on egg shells around the Rinos and their hero zero. Even after the election and Obama going to town to wreck the country, Rinos were still telling everyone to shut up about it. If it weren’t for Sarah Palin, no one would have had the courage to take him on and the Tea Party would not have been galvanized.

So if Perry has the opinion that Beranake has screwed up with monetizing the debt, it is fine for him to say so.

Well, he sure grabbed the headlines, and got the WH talking. Who knows? Maybe it’s smart. Seemed a little over the top, but maybe it isn’t. Didn’t freak me out. Just thought it was a little rough. But then, so is what the Fed has been doing.

Yeah, shocking, huh? I suppose I should behave with a little more pretention and decorum, but my drawl and opinions always set me so far apart from the norm within academia anyway that I just never felt the need to assimilate.

That’s not the first, not the last, you’ll hear from Rove. He’s been in MythRomney’s pocket since ‘07. He sideswiped FRed then Palin.

Sad thing is, barring something, or someone, HUGE, Romney is the nominee. Even the left is clearing the way for him.

Push, push, push for the most extreme conservative views until the primaries are over. Don’t settle for an Algore supporter.

You are the one who needs to get a clue. W is really a nice guy, but he never really fit in with the Beltway insiders. Just because Bush Pere lives in Houston does not detract from his position as a consummate Beltway insider. Unfortunately, Bush Pere had too much influence in W’s administration and that is what prevented him from properly using his veto pen on the profligate porkbarrel spending bills emanating from both the Republican controlled Congresses and the Reid-Pelosi Democrat controlled Congress.

What kind of idiotic statement is this?

Beats me. Why don’t you ask the jerk Carl Rove, it’s his quote.

If my guy is going to go in there and arrange an amnesty, or do other things that will aide the Left in this nation, what the hell difference does it make what I do?

Give me a person that is a Conservative, or look for new members for the party that can’t get it’s head out of it’s..., well you know.

Seriously folks...

Well, your post has nothing to do with the post I responded to. You tried to claim that the Bush family’s hearts and roots are in the East. My roots are in Wales and England but I don’t want to live there.

Obviously the Bushes have transferred hearts and roots to Texas.

It is not my perception that the party was never about conservatism. Rather, I believe that is true NOW. That is why the tea party is having such a cifficult time with the party.

I did ask him (or Karl Rove, anyway), rhetorically, at least. Please don’t tell me you’re one of those people who thinks everything posted to them is directed at them. I was responding sepcifically to what I quoted, which just so happened to be quoted in your post.
