“In 2003, Gov. Rick Perry signed a state law that allows parents to opt out of vaccination programs for reasons of “conscience,” including religion or any other rationale. The law is a response to a number of vocal parents who have become convinced that vaccines are responsible for the dramatic rise in autism cases over the past decadedespite the fact that several large, peer-reviewed studies have found no evidence that this is the case. According to data from the Texas Department of State Health Services, in 2003, parents of 2,314 children applied for an exemption. By the end of 2009, the total had reached beyond 12,600.”

Two of my grandsons have NEVER had one immunization here in Texas. Their parents have opted them out of all of the “mandatory” vaccinations. Immunizations are also not required in the school district here - the choice is totally up to the parents.
The opt out clause is NOT ridiculous, as someone else described.
You also think Perry is conservative so your credibility is nil.
I didn't post the link in an attempt to prove the drug had caused deaths. I posted it because it spells out how unproven the drug is. But you already knew that.
Thanks for the laughs.
That belongs in that thread wherein the Perry apologists were going on and on about how macho he is. :-P
Here's the Guv signing a pro-ACORN bill into law:
News reports depicted Perry as an "advocate for affordable housing," and "lending law reform" (read sub-prime defaults).
Everyone knows how "good" ACORN is at voter fraud.
Will his ACORN pals get WH jobs if Perry is elected?
Rick Perry is to conservatism what Susan Smith was to motherhood.
LOL---good one.
Tired of supporting RINOs? ME TOO! That’s why I’m supporting Perry.
That's fur sure ! Every time a Perryhead posts, we all get treated to it.
"Do you really think that that is going to be an arrow in the heart of a conservative republican history teacher's heart? Try again! I'm the #1 defender, and possibly the only one left in the public-university system. Poo-poo my efforts if you like. You'd love my classes. The liberals HATE me -- thing I should "tone it down."
I wouldn't love it if you were saying there some of the stuff you and your comrades have been saying here... like the Texas Democrats of the '80s were the Conservative party. That not only doesn't pass the smell test, but that causes some of us political historians to bust a gut with derisive laughter. Now if you were talking about the 1880s maybe. But I don't think Slick Rick was serving during the Sul Ross administration. I'm sure, however, by next week he'll be mentioning he did.
"And frankly, I have more respect for you, personally, than to accept that kind of garbage...shooting from the hip without thinking. Try again. (And pardon me if I don't respond over the next 4-5 days. I'll be unavailable but will get back with you as soon as I can.)"
Hey, now, I shoot from the lip and I don't need to aim, since it always finds its target. ;-D
Liberals would be ‘ecstatic’ over Perry. It’s nothing to brag about, though.
That’s almost deserving of a double-facepalm.
Wow. That's gonna leave a mark. =8-0>
*sigh*
Good night.
No, it’s not a reliable site for medical information because it doesn’t claim to be scientific or even medically based or peer-reviewed. Steve Ertelt has done good work in his pro-life advocacy, but does make mistakes.
Gardasil has been studied well over 10 years, with long term efficacy reported for both low grade and high grade cervical changes, as well as for the visible warts and cancer.
I wonder why any woman who objects to Gardasil because it is a “lifestyle choice” would ever get pap smears and advise their daughters the same. Should men be offended if their wives and daughters have pap smears.
Because while we do find yeast infections or other (besides HPV) STD’s at pap smears, these findings are just incidental and there are more specific tests for the other diseases.
The only thing we are looking for with the Pap smear and the new liquid test is cell nuclear changes due to HPV. In the US, it’s almost always types 16 or 18.
The side effects are equal to or less than placebo. There have been no deaths. All of the serious events have occurred in similar numbers/rates as in the population that is not vaccinated.
The British Journal of Cancer journal had published a 5 year follow up article, online in November, 2006. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2360730/?tool=pubmed#__abstractid441395 The Gardasil package insert had information on the studies in children, and still does http://www.merck.com/product/usa/pi_circulars/g/gardasil/gardasil_pi.pdf (I have a copy of the original one, if anyone wants it), following 1122 girls 9-15 receiving the vaccine.
