Reminds me of the joke about two hunters in Africa. They're walking down a path when suddenly the come upon a lion, crouched and ready to spring. One of the hunters immediately sits down, pulls a pair of running shoes out of his rucksack and starts putting them on.
"You're insane!" cried his comrade. "You'll never outrun that lion!"
"Perhaps not," replied the other. "But if I try really hard, I might be able to outrun you!
