CA primary will be in June. Not sure how bacly they screwed up presidential, but all other offices will be like WA state, top two vote getters in primary run-off for general, regardless of party.

Right now, the GOP is peeved because the so-called non partisan redistricting has all but eliminated two GOP ass'y seats, and at least a couple of our 19 GOP Congressional seats are problematic.

No change on Winner take all for electors, altho we'd certainly love that. IMHO, the district method is the only way to go in all states.

re: “... but a whole lot of folks will be disappointed regardless, if she doesn’t announce!”

I sure hope they listen to the TAM podcast. Singleton said that if that is the only reason someone would go, they need to save their money and stay home. He doesn’t believe she will announce then, but also said it will be a very important speech. He also said some great local speakers: a constitutional scholar talking about the Constitution; someone talking about Precinct Organizing, some talking the direction we need to go, etc.
Also said if you can do some phone-banking, email Peter Singleton at Iowa@organize4Palin.com

Our state rep for O4P, C4P and O4PCA is the same fellow, but we are forming local groups as well. I'm in San Berdoo, which is larger than many states, and so far we have two groups here.

I know of at least two in N. VA, contact O4P CA, Thomas S. Schmitz or Ron Smith, they can help.

Also, if you want to help, Singleton also it would really do a lot of good if we would contribute to Organize4Palin

The time for sitting back and letting someone else effect the direction of our country has to be over.

Supporters need to be careful about letting the Roves of the world put a mark on the wall. If she doesn’t deliver on their predetermined date, they will use that to try and dispirit the Governor’s supporters.

...he did say that if you’re going to Iowa fully expecting her to announce, don’t come so you won’t be disappointed.

Ugh....

I heard that CA went to a “open” primary this year - but I haven’t heard anymore about it.

I hate that .. it means that dems can vote in our primary - so they can choose who they believe will lose!!

Is the California GOP ever going to wake up ..??

onyx: He couldn’t spill the beans regarding September 3, but a whole lot of folks will be disappointed regardless, if she doesn’t announce! MountainDad: She'll declare then. Just gotta keep the faith, baby! Keep the faith!

Singleton said that while he doesn't know what the governor will do, he believes that Palin will not announce on Sept.3 . He believes that she'll announce later in September. Additionally, Scott Conroy, arguably the reporter with the most accurate info on Palin, has said that he doesn't believe that Palin will announce on 9/3.

We should keep expectations for an explicit Sept. 3 announcement in check. Regardless, we should definitely keep the faith like you say, MountainDad. Palin's earned it.

Perry would be an acceptable candidate if this were a conventional time. But this is not a conventional time. This is not the time for a career politician. This is not the time for same old, same old. This is not the time for backslapping boardroom crony capitalist conservatism. This is the time for a candidate who has a proven record of fighting the establishment on both sides of the aisle. That candidate is Palin and that time is now.

Who is this guy - the mysterious fellow who was going to lay the groundwork for Sarah Palin in Iowa’s straw poll?

Why didn’t she get in? With a good showing, she could have built momentum — now she has to come from behind.

This is a strategy? If someone could explain that, I’m willing to listen.

But don’t throw in the mainstream media, because that reason for secrecy has past.

Entry now would be seen as splitting the conservative vote.......enter Romney.

Is Palin going Third Party?

Is Palin going Third Party?

Palin is a loud and proud Republican. She wants Anybody But Obama, and would not put at risk his reelection via a third party run that would split the vote against Obama. From Going Rogue to numerous public statements, Palin has said that the Republican party platform represents her views and the best path for America. Her complaint is that the party often does not live up to the planks in that platform. She wants to lead the party to live up to its own principles, not lead a third party.

I believe that you have vastly over-estimated her vote getting strength. Sure she can fire up people (that’s her strength) but that does not translate into the hard, tough slog of governing. Voters know there is more to this job than rallying the troops.

If the vote is remotely close (especially if it is close), the Left will scrape the bottom of the voter booth barrel to find as many “votes” as are needed to keep Obama ruling for 4 more years.

Palin supporters keep attacking Perry’s record because he has one (a long one). But Sarah’s record is thin, so her supporters have elevated her beyond the drudgery of being human and onto a plain where she rules over them as a conservative goddess.

Not good. Initial excitement will die down and then people will ask what she has to offer besides excitement — it can only be sustained for so long and it is easy to attack.

Sarah Palin’s resume is there for anyone’s review. Her political record reads as a faithful Republican. How can she now campaign and say she is different than those who have already entered the race?

All due respect, there are many substantive arguments to be made against Palin, but the claim that her record is thin is born of ignorance of the facts. I'll gladly take the time to watch or read anything you think will help me to better learn about Perry's record, if you'll do me a favor, Cincinatus: Watch The Undefeated or read Sarah takes on Big Oil, or Scott Conroy and Shushanna Walshe's Sarah From Alaska and then come back and attempt to make the case that her record is thin. One can credibly argue against her record, or argue that another candidate's record is stronger, but not that her record is thin.

And, really, it is beneath you to sink to maligning the intellect and motivations of Palin's supporters by reducing them to mere misquided or deluded worshippers of a goddess.

I've been following Sarah Palin since she landed on the national political scene (and supported her arrival and have posted a vast number of articles on her for years).

I read every word of "Going Rogue."

I watched every minute of every episode of "Sarah From Alaska."

I have not see her movie but have read reviews (by conservatives) about it.

Those are recounts and advertising of her record.

I have also looked over details of her political record and I find Rick Perry's positions and achievements, as well as his continued political fights - on the state level, national level and though court challenges - against the federal government, while still in office, far superior.

As I wrote previously, arguing that another candidate's, record is stronger is a valid argument. But you argued that Palin's record is thin. That's just rubbish. And if you still think after reading Going Rogue and looking over the "details of her political record" that her record is thin, then it calls into question your definition of the word "thin".
