The video you are about to watch was filmed by a driver who stopped along the freeway with many others just outside Al-Ahsa City, in Saudi Arabia. Throughout the last few years there have been many theories put forth as to what caused this phenomenon. Along with those theories, various names have been used to describe it, like "Sand Geyser," "Sand Fountain," "Sand Volcano," and "Sand Injectites." The quality of the video is not the best because it was filmed with a cell phone, and the person who filmed it has not ever identified himself. However, the video is good enough to show that something very powerful was taking place in the desert that day.

The best theory I have read is that it was caused by "Hydrocarbon Injections", or some similar practice of pumping gasses into the chambers underground to force the oil out. However, this was on land in the desert, not under the sea where the practice of injecting gasses is used. Also there was no evidence of such geological methods were being used at the areas of this geyser as they suggest. (I may have the geological lingo confused, but I think you get the idea)
That being said, the House of Saud (the ruling family) has yet to even release their findings. Why is that I wonder?
This is a report I did about a sand geyser in the Saudi Arabian desert that experts around the world have yet to conclusively agree as to what happened. Check it out and let me know what you think caused this phenomenon. As of today, this is the only known time this has ever happened anywhere else around the world.----------------------

Sand Worms.
“Either the Mummy is returning for a sequel, or the Scorpion King is digging an underground tunnel for an express train from SaudiArabia to Iran...”

My personal favorite.
I was wondering when Kevin Bacon would show up on the video.
That has been my favorite theory also. I am a big Brandon Fraser fan
Bacon In Saudi Arabia? Not a chance in ...l Infidel! Off with your head!
LOL, very funny, but goood!
Spice blow.
Any sandtrout spotted in the area...??
Very interesting. Either a natural cause or an artificial, man-made cause. I vote for man-made. Looks like a broken fire hydrant gushing water on the street.
Shai Hulud!
Count me in three. “The Mummy” with Fraser and Weitz had such a wonderful old movie feel, with that great relationship between the librarian and the adventurer.
It’s Imhotep.
This is the only decent clip I could find, it’s got french words underneath.

Is that what causes dry quicksand, as seen in the movies Lawrence of Arabia and Mad Max? I thought it was fiction but it does exist (or can be created in the lab) and was considered as a potential problem in the lunar landings.

Dune ! Where`s my spice?
What’s your best guess, Vike... I feel you’ve got an opinion here.
Interesting.
I think there is a connection between the theory of sewage and the theory of the Koran. Somehow they are connected.
Someone opened a sand hydrant.
It is a case of escaping gas. Has anyone taken air samples? Or has anyone tried to ignite the gas?
Natural gas (MW=16) is much lighter than air (MW=29) and will therefore dissipate quickly.
I say, take a flaregun and shoot a flare in the boiling sand mass and see what happens.
Someone’s got a thumper going...
Is that what causes dry quicksand, as seen in the movies Lawrence of Arabia and Mad Max?
