NY Times ^ | 08.25.11

Former Vice President Dick Cheney says in a new memoir that he urged President George W. Bush to bomb a suspected Syrian nuclear reactor site in June 2007. But, he wrote, Mr. Bush opted for a diplomatic approach after other advisers — still stinging over “the bad intelligence we had received about Iraq’s stockpiles of weapons of mass destruction” — expressed misgivings

Political memoirs are so frequently a self-serving drag, but I’m ordering this one today.

Hmmm...so much for the ‘Cheney is really in charge’ drivel.

Agreed.

In addition to having a first rate mind, he also upsets the Dems to no end. Even out of office, they will wet themselves over this.

A national treasure indeed!

If memory serves me right... Israel did the bombing of a secret Syrian nuclear facility for us in 2007. Cheney is a good man and I’m sure he had knowledge and influence in this decision. Compare him to the boob in the VP position now.

I am not sure if this was the right thing to do. Esp given the constitution draft is backed by sharia law.

and the present president is a muslim.

Heck, you never go wrong wanting to bomb some country in the Middle East. Why not spin the Wheel of Misfortune to see who gets lucky today! ;-)

Not only that reactor but the whole Bekka (sp?) valley. Should have bombed that convoy of Russian trucks into Borscht.

“He wrote that he believes that Secretary of State Colin L. Powell tried to undermine President Bush by privately expressing doubts about the Iraq war, and he confirms that he pushed to have Mr. Powell removed from the cabinet after the 2004 election.”

Wall kiss mah grits and knock me over with a feather!!!!

Cheney is the who SHOULD have been President. My guess is Obama would NOT be sitting in the White House if he were.

Fox News had a special about him Friday. It was very good.

During the show I kept wishing that he would run for POTUS.

Then they showed this picture:

Looks terrible since last heart attack.

Too bad. I think he could beat Obama.

Yep, Dick Cheney is a great American.

If Bush had Cheney clones instead of weak links like Rice and Powell, America would have been better served in the WOT.

I still think GWB should have resigned the day before the 2008 election and had Cheney sworn in as president.

It would have been the greatest practical joke ever played on an incoming president by his predecessor.

Giving "Boobs" a bad name. Complete Asshole is more like it.

He couldn’t run. Bad ticker. But we got him anyway, thanks to GW. Cheney was his best hire.

Had Vice President Dick Cheney been given the green light on the bombing of Syria, we’d be living in a far better world. Of that, there is not an iota of doubt.

I have shaken the man’s hand and know people who know him. Besides being off the charts smart, he is a humble, down to earth guy. A true son of Wyoming.

Who knew Powell would turn out to be such a turncoat? I'm sure he was a HUGE disappointment to both Bush and Cheney. And then for him to declare his support for Obama just a few days before the election! Wow. I never saw that coming.

Why do you say that about Rice? She was a great Sec. of State. She can bore a room full of diplomats, with banal diplomacy talk, all day long. That's all that's required.

Are you talking about Syria or America?
