Proof GOP is going to (but not helping) the dogs

Ever since the Republican Red Tide that swept the country stopped at the Sierra Nevada in November, we've been wondering how California's GOP would attract new party members.

(By the way, the Sierra also gave the Donner party problems in November, but that was a snowy winter nearly 165 years ago, and we digress.)

The influence of Republicans, who hold just 43 of the Legislature's 120 seats, has been threatened again recently by newly drawn districts, particularly in the Senate. But judging by some votes cast in the Senate last week, members of the state's Grand Old Party aren't quite ready to aggressively work to win over new constituencies.

First was a bill to prohibit the state from entering in contracts in excess of $100,000 with businesses that do not offer spousal benefits to employees in legally recognized same-sex marriages. All the Republicans opposed it.

Then came a resolution to request that the state rename the Eastshore State Park, which stretches from Richmond to Oakland, for Sylvia McLaughlin, who was instrumental in saving San Francisco Bay from environmental degradation. After Sen. Tom Harman, R-Huntington Beach (Orange County), questioned it, the resolution was opposed by 11 Republicans, with two not voting.

Of course, since Democrats have nearly a two-thirds majority, both measures passed easily.

The coup de grace was AB971, a bill to re-enact the California Sea Otter Fund, a voluntary program that is paid for by people checking a box on their tax filings saying they want to contribute. Since 2006, when it went into effect, the fund has received more than $1.3 million for research on the health of the adorable creatures.

Instead of agreeing unanimously to the bill, Senate Republicans asked for a roll-call vote. The final tally was 33-3.

The reason California is going to the dogs is because it’s controlled by the dems.

California is so far gone that it will need to be declared a state in insurrection. Then the federal franchise must be taken away from all California citizens, meaning that all California house and senate members are not seated in the federal congress.

Next, a military governor must be appointed with a division of lawyers, investigators and several armed battalions. The 1st Marine Division out of Camp Pendelton can serve that role.

California’s status as a state in the union must be suspended until the citizens prove they can elect state and local governments that conform to and obey the rule of common law and constitutional law.

We have precedence for that in our Reconstruction laws passed by Thaddeus Stevens and the Radical Republicans in 1866.

There are simply not enough conservatives, patriots and common sense folks to turn California around without help. We can’t exist as a nation with a communist state trying to destroy us. The communists and fascists running California need to be imprisoned, executed or given a one-way ticket to North Korea. California needs radical surgery.

There are other states as bad as California, but this thread is about the yogurt and avacado State, so let’s keep it there.

If someone has a better idea, let’s hear it.

Sir. I welcome and approve your plan. I shall use your plan as a guideline as I work here in So Cal. The immature people who are running California have lost the strength to defend the State Constitution (1849) and the U.S. Constitution (1789). The young people (18-29) in the state are hurting for gas money, tuition money and jobs. Gov. Brown is as evil has his best friend Jim Jones.

We need a plan to fix things and yours is the best I've seen. I shall use it as a guide when working with John and Ken at KFI and Fullerton's Future.org.

Ok, let's play this game…

First was a bill to prohibit the state from entering in contracts in excess of $100,000 with businesses that do not offer spousal benefits to employees in legally recognized same-sex marriages.

No matter which way you look at it, it's meaningless. Why contracts over $100,000 but not less? There are next to no "legally recognized same-sex marriages" in Calif. so it discriminates against those same-sex couples in domestic partnerships, a far bigger class. It's anti-gay.

Why rename Eastshore State Park for Sylvia McLaughlin when she's just one of three co-founders of Save The Bay? It is because she's the last of the women alive? Anti-history. It demeans the accomplishments and contributions of her co-founders who were also well-to-do professor's wives.

If people want to "save the otters" donate money to a private cause. These legislative idiots are screaming about not having enough taxes and have decided otters are more important than starving children in schools.

Chipping pets at shelters raises the cost of rescued pets, depriving the poor and elderly of companionship, and could lower the adoption rate while doing nothing to reduce kills.

What Democrat can vote for this anti-gay, anti-history, anti-children, anti-poor set of bills? It's indefensible.
