Perry is going to load up his cabinet witrh Texas cronies.

Whereas presidents usually select nothing but complete strangers for cabinet posts.

Wait, this guy is organizing the event and invited Palin. Either way I think Palin says she's in or out this weekend.

I was asked not to disclose the details of the snafu!

Crow is organizing the event on September 3. Without him it wouldn't be happening.

Crow is a strong Sarah Palin supporter. Watch for my reports on you tube next week.

From all I can tell, it was Crow that booked O'Donnell.

I was objecting to the charge that:

1)Crow was a Perry supporter. He is a self proclaimed Palin supporter who thinks she's not running. So he was looking at supporting Perry as a second choice.

2)Crow booked O'Donnell to hurt Palin. He seems to be an amateur just shooting his mouth off trying to promote his event. And handling it badly. Undermining your primary attraction doesn't make sense.

I think Palin is on Perry’s team. I think she’s going to be tapped for Energy Secretary.

I think Palin is on Perry's team as well. Had he not gotten in, she would have. Right now, she is using the media frenzy to buffer him a bit.

What will the Palinista Perry-Haters here on FR do when Palin comes out in support of Perry? Will they call her a fool for falling for Perry's "snakeoil" (if I may borrow a phrase from above in this thread)?

I’m only fired up to help Palin win the presidency. If that isn’t to be, I’m saying goodbye to all politics and just enjoy my retirement.
Ditto. She is the only candidate with a track record of fighting corruption...if she chooses not to run; I’m done.

So, if Mrs. Palin opts not to run, you, in essence, are supporting owebama. Sad, very sad.

Same old song every four years...tired of playing the 'lesser of two evils' game. I have better things to do with my time...

Bailing on this is her version of McCain suspending my campaign

Hey Wolf, she didn't bail on this -- she was simply playing hardball to control the shape of the battlefield.

Her participation went on hold until the organizers agreed to clean up a few details (which obviously included making sure COD would not be speaking at the event).

Takeaway from all this? Sarah is very serious about this event and the effect it will have and the imagery it will produce, and she doesn't want her participation to be marred by COD's recent disastrous episode on TV.

Seems pretty obsessive for someone who's supposedly not planning to run. I think she's just methodically and strategically softening and shaping the battlefield for an announcement sometime soon and is paying special attention to who she associates closely with and the imagery that would result.

I feel sorry for O’Donnell. She too is an ordinary Joe who lacks experience and has been pummeled by both sides for bloopers that would be common to anyone of us who weren’t churned out of the “machine”.

Well put. For as long as I can remember, we've always complained about how politicians are so fake and packaged, never deviating from their scripted soundbites. How we are so sick of the polished charm, having them tell us what we want to hear during the election but once elected, doing something else entirely.

As soon as we get regular citizens running for public office, we rip them to shreds because they don't ooze the polish that we are accustomed to seeing.

I guess we might as well be content with the Ivy-league bred empty suits as our political leaders because the way we treat everybody else, that's all we are going to end up with.

Ditto. I’m a “The TEA Party” (gal) and I don’t know who he is either. We are millions of Americans who want real change and small government, no more RINOs, and we want leaders who put America first.

I like these recent polls that say The TEA Party loves Perry!

What a laugh.

I'm sick of all these so-called T.E.A. Party leaders and their organizations.

The Tea Party should have become an actual political party, instead, it was infiltrated and became de facto Republican party.

This was not unexpected.

Not all of us are near retirement age. We have to live with the marxist dictator in chief’s policies a hell of a lot longer.

His goal has been to fundamentally change the US. Well he’s damn well on his way of accomplishing that goal. You are a fool if you think this election is like any others. It’s not. We have a truly evil american hater in the WH who bows to our enemies while stabbing our allies in the back, not to mention all of us who he’s supposed to be serving.

Do you think he’s not going to finish the job if given 4 more years? You think he’s going to suddenly stop using his czars to bypass congress? God have mercy on us if you and similar temper tantrum throwers cost us 4 more years of hell.

"Ken Crow invited Christine O'Donnell to sabotage Palin. "

That is an absolutely absurd idea. By doing so he would also be intentionally sabotaging his own event and throwing his time and money down the drain. What I see is someone who has invested a lot of time and money in an event that was billed as Sarah's big announcement and he is getting worried that he has been taken to the cleaners.

Perry people are just as bad as Perry himself.

In what way are they superior to Obama?

No need to be hostile. I love Palin. I just don’t think she can win with just the conservative base. I’m more of a realist.

Good catch -- thanks for posting. When she later stumped for him (at his request, I've read somewhere, though don't know for sure whether he did ask or if she suggested it) it would appear that she either didn't hold him responsible for turning the mic off after only 5 minutes, OR didn't hold a grudge, OR held the interests of the country above her own (seems to me justified) grudge.

Thanks for all the links you provide, Diogen. Always appreciated here.

Nonetheless, give him a some hell when you see him. He kind of stepped in it and set off a fiasco that could have quickly escalated to nuclear proportions. In Iowa during presidential season you need to be a bit more on the ball. That and keep your mouth shut.

CC writes: ...temper tantrum throwers ...

After the primaries of '08, I pretty much came to have contempt for folks who relied on this tired old whininig self-pitying phrase to describe people who out of principle withheld their votes from liberals.

People who take the tone of a schoolmarm talking down to children give me a pain. Here's the deal, CajCon: What you choose to perceive as a "temper tantrum" or "trying to teach the GOP a lesson" or "taking your marbles and going home" is in reality an attempt of some of us to use the ONLY REAL TOOL WE HAVE -- each our individual vote -- to CHANGE THE COURSE OF THE GOP. As long as Republicans vote for statists and liberals, statists and liberals will stay the course to disaster.

To you, it's a "temper tantrum." To me, it's the dirty, courageous, desperate work of people who understand that hard decisions have to me made in order to change course -- that RISKS have to be taken. There is zero risk in voting for a statist liberal Republican -- statist liberalism wins and the GOP betrays that many more millions of Americans begging for a party that stands for LIMITED GOVERNMENT.

There is big risk in rejecting a liberal statist Republican even if it means the liberal statist Democrat wins -- but the pay-off if we WIN is profoundly for the good; the punishment if we lose has considerable silver lining, though people are in such an emotional panic that they refuse to see it. Four more years of Obama -- that is presuming Obama is the Dem nominee, which I think there's a good chance he won't be -- won't mean the end of America. It WILL mean a much more conservative Congress. It will mean a nation of people angrier than ever at a liberal media and vote fraud, and more clamoring for a GOP that actually stands for limited government because when it doesn't, it loses. Liberals have to cheat to win because if they didn't, they'd lose; liberals have to cheat to win becasue the majority of Americans reject liberalism.

Seems to me a lot of folks are in a panic, and panic makes people do stupid things.

In your panic, you want folks like wkwe to vote for a liberal statist, and you are too frightened and rabbit-headed to perceive that if the White House is occupied by a statist Republican for the next for to eight years, the Democrat that follows will make Obama look like nothing. Remember how we thought NO ONE could possibly be worse than Hillary? Well, if YOUR kind of flawed panic-stricken rationale for voting for statist liberals who are registered Republicans prevails, the result will be a progression where the next Dem is worse than Obama.

Be cool, think straight. Resist the temptation to accuse others who are thoughtfully considering risks, of engaging in "temper tantrums," because it only makes you look bad.
