It ticks me off when I see Palin supporters call Bachmann and Perry former democrat RINO’s when the greatest POTUS in my lifetime embraced the blue dog democrats and maintained his conservative values.

Reagan and the Unions.

And SAVE THE FLAMES but Newt tried to mirror himself after Reagan.(Maybe that’s why he sat on the sofa with witch Pelosi?)In today’s politics you have to be very careful catering to the blue dogs as the blue dogs have been hijacked Obama extreme left.A wise POTUS contender would study all of this and apply Reagan’s politics of bi partisanship to today’s politics.(Which would be defined as working with the GOP non tea partiers yet holding the real non big gov values.)

I think there’s a difference.

Bachmann apparently supported Carter in 1976 when she was 20 years old and soon after became a Republican. I give her a pass. That doesn’t mean anything to me.

Perry is a bit different. He was still a Dem in 1988. He was 38 yrs old and a grown man. And we had just gone through 8 years of Reagan.

Reagan didn’t have himself to live through when he was younger. He came of age politically during FDR when the Dems controlled everything and thre was no conservative moevemment or GOP to speak of.

Perry came of age politically when the conservative movement was in full bloom and the GOP was its strongest point having won 2 straight landslides of 44 and 49 states with their biggest icon as President and leader...and Perry was still a dem.

Same with Romney. He wasn’t even a Republican during the Reagan era and openly disavowed it in 1994.

Not quite the same to me as Reagan evolving as he did. Now, I still like Perry and I’d be fine with him as President, I’d be fine with Bachmann. I’d be fine with you as President instead of Obama and I know nothing about you...except that you’re not Obama.

But in this primary process I think it best for everyone to state their own case and not go after the others. Say why they should be the nominee and not why someone else shouldn’t be. Let the chips fall where they may. I know I’ll support whoever emerges even if they’re not my first choice. I don’t really care for Romney but if it’s him, I’d gladly vote for him over Obama.
