ANDY Whitfield, the 39-year-old star of the cable series Spartacus: Blood and Sand, has died in Sydney.
Manager Sam Maydew said Whitfield died yesterday of non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
Whitfield's wife, Vashti, called her husband a "beautiful young warrior" who died on a "sunny Sydney morning" in the "arms of his loving wife".

NHL has a really good rate of successful treatment. I wonder if he found it too late.

Terrible news. But perhaps the best way to cross over.

He was terrific in the role. He was gracious in the way he supported the actor who replaced him. Prayers for his family.

Not diminishing the loss one bit, but if you have to go, I can think of worse ways than being in the arms of someone who obviously cares a great deal for you.
My sympathies to the family...

One of the few comforts in my Dad's passing was that he was at home and my Mother was holding his hand when he passed.Being home and with family was exactly the right thing.

So sad to see him pass. 39 and in great shape. Illnesses like cancer know no bounds. God comfort his family and the actors who worked with him. Spartacus was one of the very TV shows that I watch.
