A seemingly irreparable divide has developed between Sarah Palins key supporters in Iowa. On one side is Peter Singleton, the California lawyer who moved to Iowa ten months ago, traveled the state meeting with activists, and created Iowas Organize4Palin group. On the other side are several longtime Iowa political activists who volunteered countless hours to develop a grassroots network of support for the former Alaska governor.
Both sides still support Palin and hope she runs for President. However, if she runs, Palin will have trouble rebuilding her Iowa team. The key differences stem from Singletons Iowa strategy. He has been the public face of the group, but other Palin supporters claim he has accomplished little else.
There is no Organize4Palin, there never was, said former group member Craig Bergman. At no point in time has Organize4Palin put pen to title to do the 5X5 executable grassroots plan that you know has to be done. There is absolutely no organization. None.
I wish it wasnt this way, but it is, added former Organize4Palin member Myrna Beeber. When your trust is broken, its broken, and thats just the way it is. When Sarah declares, well be out there working for her. Were still for Palin, were just not with Organize4Palin.
Peter Singleton says the split was mutual and those that left have already been replaced. Were still moving along real nicely and weve got a great team and doing all the things we were doing, Singleton told TheIowaRepublican. Im very pleased with whats going on. I couldnt be happier with our team and what weve accomplished to date.
Some of the problems in the organization developed during the chaos of the week preceding Sarah Palins recent visit to Iowa for a Tea Party rally.

Sigh...
I will say this it has been a wonderful exercise in learning to have more patience! :)
(((((PING)))))
Is the “theiowarepublican.com” a Rommney outfit? Sure sounds like it.
RATs trying to “organize”, infiltrate and hijack the TEA pissed for Palin?
Go Sarah!!!!
Oh pleeeezzzzz
< yawn... >
Come on Kevin! Huge rift? Your opening sentence says it right. One one side is Peter. On the other, every known Iowa supporter who have been going around the state for Sarah for months and who have worked politics since Goldwater. That is not "huge" nor is it a "rift". It is a singular, pardon the pun, exclusion of one self proclaimed "leader" of a virtually non existent net group.
As for losing patience, I think that is some creative writing. We were having a planning meeting and were all together when you made the first call, so every one of us heard every word to the other. So to make it clear, if any one has any "lost" "patience" it was, past tense, with the lack of a true organizing effort of the one particular impediment. Not with Sarah. Not with her timing, which if she announces in these next few days, during the break between debates, would be perfect.
I will leave it with my last quote from your article: Organizing for Palin goes well. And is ahead of the efforts of the Perry camp who just announced their team yesterday. We are deeper and wider across the state and have been for longer, so we operate as a well vetted team.
Huge rift? In the dreams of some other campaigns...
California lawyer, well we know what that’s worth.
I don’t trust The IOwa Republican to be an honest NEWS source. They are an OPINION depository - and are more establishment oriented than anything.
Take anything they publish with several truckloads of Morton’s (that’s salt for those of you in RIo Linda...)
8^D
I have heard rumors of a rift but I am not sure of the source. It may be genuine concerns over organization, but it also may be the typical Polk county pissing match. You just never know.
What I do know is Pete Singleton has been trying to do what he can. If there are others out there organizing they haven’t made it down here. Pete has. That leaves me taking everything with a grain of salt until I see something to verify.
If Sarah runs she will choose her staff so the maneuvering seems to me to be a little stupid.
People have been saying that for months, Craig.
Sounds like wishful thinking by Perry-bots to me.
What difference can it make how many orgs are supporting Palin?
Traditional top down elitists having a hard time adjusting to the Sarah Palin Decade? - Tough!
The Iowa Repooplican is an elitist, top-down control freak rag.
It also sounds to me as if the Natives are restless. I don't put much stock in Kevin's original report: he's a Romneybot. It's Bergman's response I look at. He didn't deny that there was a division with Singleton.
Palin is paying a price for staying out of this race, and it comes at the cost of being able to knock heads together.
Best,
Chris
I will jump in on this before the thread gets too many tin foil hatted folks posting. All is well in Iowa. Sarah Palin has many hundreds of known supporters in all walks of life, all demographics. Just many of us locals got tired of hearing how great the out of stater was when we knew the truth. We didn’t say anything for months as we did not want the media to blow up about it. It is all about lead, follow or get out of the way. All TIR folks did was go for the shocking headline to get web hits. When she runs, Iowa is ready to lead the nation. Without any “help” from the self appointed. Thanks much. Rest easy. And haters? Keep dreaming.
This all goes away once she announces. Then they will united behind a single mission: Palin for President
Sounds like to your typical “hissy fits” between various egos and self-appointed agendas. This is what you call a “grass roots” minus the paid politico staffs.
One gentleman (name escapes me) from western Iowa was asked to leave O4P (coordinator of a county) because of a difference of ideas.....call it a personality clash. The Iowa O4P people I’ve met are professional, savvy and hard working.
As to the charge there’s “no prescence” in Iowa, that is pure bull-plop. I’ve been working/observing the Iowa political scene for a while and the Palinistas are at many major events from county fairs, Ames staw poll to county GOP meetings.
