The 19-year-old man who wore a Gumby suit into a 7-Eleven store in San Diego says it was a joke and he never used the words "robbery" or "gun."
"I never said any of those words," Jacob Kiss told KGTV (Channel 10). "...Those never came out of my mouth."
Kiss turned himself in to San Diego police this week for questioning in the Labor Day incident. So did his friend, Jason Giramma, also 19, who admitted driving the supposed getaway car.
The clerk at the store in the Rancho Penasquitos neighborhood told police that the Gumby-suit wearer threatened to pull a gun if he did not hand over some money.
But Kiss told the television station that he meant the incident as a joke.

-it was just a joke. Okay, sure thing! Slam goes the cell door.
I hated Gumby as a kid.
I guess it was my generation’s SpongeBob Squarepants.......
No “Slammer” will ever contain him!
Got ya! GMTA!
Sounds like the store clerk found a good excuse to stuff a few buck from the till in his pocket.
There you go seoulf getting too serial about this funny
gumby stuff. sounds like you should say OOP’S Sorry.
If he took money, he’s in hot water.
This is quite interesting because the incident is so contested & difficult to say with certainty whether it was a prank or a botched robbery that the suspect will probably not be convicted.
