Yep, and I was looking right at his name. If I remember, wasn't there also a Robert Horton who sang
"Tell Laura I love Her", about a guy that crashed during a race. This version by Ricky Valance just doesn't do it justice but the better version of my search. Horton had a lower voice.

Ray Peterson sang the original “Tell Laura I Love Her” in 1960. Robert Horton starred in “Wagon Train” (Flint McCullogh)and was also a musical star on Broadway, but if he ever recorded “Laura”, I can find no record of it.
