Gov. Brown unaware of state budget woes coming
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | 9/24/11 | Willie Brown

Gov. Jerry Brown is doing well in the polls right now, but he's got a problem in the works that could really take him down.

Check in with legislative analysts - the state is on track to run out of money by Thanksgiving.

It turns out that the budget Brown signed had revenue projections that were ... well, I won't call them phony, but let's just say they've turned out to be several billion dollars short of accurate.

Plus, the courts stopped him from pulling in the money he was hoping to raise from redevelopment agencies across the state.

In other words, he's almost sure to have to pull the "trigger" on cuts to education and health and social programs that were included in the budget in case the state ran short of money.

I'm telling you, Brown is on the brink - and legislators are becoming concerned because they don't think he knows it.

He’s more interested in making sure kindergardeners have the proper LGBT training.

I like Willie Brown.

Would never vote for him for anything, but I like him.

OF COURSE Governor Brown knows cuts are coming. He just intends to execute them per his sworn duties. He has no choice...there won't be any new taxes. And, it's the law.

He's turning out to be a fairly honest ... and legal governor. I'm surprised.

The democrats in the two legislative houses and the unions are starting to not like this guy very much.

I'm starting to think he's more conservative than Arnold.

I nominate Governor Moonbeam for the Captain Obvious Award. Does this blithering idiot know how he sounds to people who don't do drugs or drink the water in La-La Land? No, of course not . . . silly me.

I don’t agree with Willie Brown on much of anything. But he has an “everybodys uncle Willie” type of persona. I can’t help but like the guy.

Well, I guess he knows it now.

Now I’ve seen everything - a Willie Brown article on politics quoted with approval on the Freep. Admittedly he’s the best thing in the SF Chronicle since Herb Caen died, but seeing him on the Freep is still amazing.

Say what you will about Willie, but he does understand California politics.

Mike Royko, the acerbic and brilliant writer for the Chicago Suntimes (now deceased), gave “Moonbeam” his name in the early 70’s (although I am not absolutely certain of the date). It was not meant as a compliment but rather indicating that he believed (with a great deal of cause) that Mr. Brown was not running on all cylinders. The name stuck.

The California democrat party scam comes to an end in November?

It is truly amazing how an evil, corrupt policial party took a paradise on earth and turned it into Detroit on the Pacific.

Are you sure it wasn’t from Linda Rondstadt commenting one night while the two of them were on LSD, that the moon was beaming off his bald head and blinding her.
