EPA To Shut Down 20% of Coal Plants in 2012
Town Hall ^ | 9/24/11 | Helen Whalen Cohen

Posted on 09/24/2011 9:26:48 PM PDT by Nachum

This article is a few days old, but it is worth a mention nonetheless. Susan Kraemer at CleanTechnica can barely contain her excitement at the prospect of environmental regulations. In an article titled "Obama's EPA Cues 130 Billion Race to Cut Pollution By 2015", she reports that the EPA will shut down 20 percent of coal plants through the Cross-State Air Pollution Rule. (Snip) The EPA will shut down an estimated 20% of the nation’s coal plants through the ground-level ozone rule (the Cross-State Air Pollution Rule (CSAPR) ) through cap and trade that is about to be implemented in

I don’t want raw sewage and toxic sludge being dumped in the field across the street from my well.

China is adding (bringing on line) one new coal fired power generating plant a WEEK!!

Pretty soon, I won't be able to afford to run the lights in my house.

ABOLISH the EPA and Obama.

I’m not sure we can wait until 2012 to get this guy out of office.

I hope they can hang Fast and Furious around his neck, or one of the other scandals.

Of course we need to shut down the EPA, as well as all federal government departments except for our legislative branches and the military.

Our Founding Father’s did not design America to be governed by a centralized entity. After that whole history back in the old country(as well as world history in general), they understood that a centralized power is prone to corruption.

The states must again be granted sovereignty to govern, along with a federal responsibility to protect our borders, and trade relationships abroad.

Your state would allow that were it not for the EPA?

It’s a good thing I don’t drink Kool Aid.

By the way, you really need to do something about that thin skin. If you’re going to insist on pontificating about, “No one can rightly claim that Obama didn’t warn us....” crap around here, you shouldn’t be surprised if someone posts a sarcastic response.

That is as specious a strawman as I’ve ever seen here.

You [and everyone else] have a state environmental dept for that...same as you have a state education dept, state health department and several other state department of federal redundency departments.

Between Clean Air, Clean Water, Endangered Species, and Lib SCOTUS interpretations of the Interstate Commerce Clause, the feds have a stranglehold that can be broken only by either defunding/elimination/repeal; or revolt.

Lets try the legislative route...first.

He did warn us. He said “you can burn coal if you want to, but if you do, you’ll go bankrupt”.

Let's see: higher unemployment, more government regulations, more business forced to cut back or shutdown, more people on welfare and government assistance, higher fees for electricity——yep, a winning combination for the 2012 presidential race. Go obamma go! /s

the RATS won't be happy till we're all freezing in the dark...

The first breakers to be pulled during the brownout are those channeling power to Washington DC and the immediate environs. Any other city which harbors the domestic terrorists who think shutting down 20% of coal fired plants is a good idea whould get the same treatment. Let tham live off grid--preferably in the coldest weather of the year.

It's a little tougher to be so 'green' when you are turning blue and shivering.

Even if we replace Obama, will the new POTUS have the power and guts to break the EPA? Will they have the power and will to remove career bureaucrats (how the heck do they get permanent employment anyway)? That means lots of lawsuits by career fools in the Justice Dept. (Holder’s appointees).
