Your post from the pulled thread:

America, last redoubt of climate naysayers

Not long ago I had to do some research into captiol punishment (I'm against it, btw, so you know I'm not cooking the data), in response to the usual "civilized nations don't have it" crud from some Europeans. I presented them with the history of how Europe came to be 'against' executions, and how it was clear that in many cases if not most, executions were outlawed not in response to the people's wishes but in spite of them. (Now that this has been the law for the lifetimes of many voters, of course, it's a moot point.)

I think of this when I see how the MSM rush to defend the Global Warming position. One of their biggest tactics, of course, is to blend the idea of natural warming with the idea of man-made warming--thus, the 'deniers' are denying the sun is hot, for example.

I mention all of this to show that the MSM/leftists will always, always, always point to other GOVERNMENTS as proof of compliance with a certain point of view. Eleanor Clift and Chris Matthews not only don't know, they don't care what European CITIZENS think about this, or the lack of information in many countries, the lack of free expression, the very obvious bullying that goes on in the sciences, and many other factors. They Just Know, and look, these leftist GOVERNMENTS agree with them, so case closed.

The truth is a lot harder to uncover. I'm not saying the truth is that Europeans or others would agree with our point of view about this topic, only that we don't even know if they have the variety of information needed to come to their own conclusions. This doesn't even factor in the European history of not wanting to rock the government's boar--I'm often startled by how willing some Europeans are to simply believe the government all the time.

It's not about being anti-government or anti-science, it's about the truth of what people really think is very hard to find, and the newspapers seem to know this and bank on it when pushing their agendas.
