Defund the United Nations: For Israel and Our National Security...
American Center For Law And Justice ^ | 9/23/2011 | Jay Sekulow, ACLJ Chief Counsel

Posted on 09/26/2011 2:39:00 PM PDT by Iraqs Inconvenient Truth.

The Palestinian Authority has formally requested statehood with the United Nations (U.N.) – an unprecedented act that violates international law and previous peace agreements with Israel. The terrorist group, Hamas, whose stated mission is the destruction of Israel, leads the Palestinian government.

The ACLJ is defending Israel on multiple fronts. We have already deployed legal and legislative teams across the globe to support Israel – to urge President Obama to use the United States' veto authority in the U.N. Security Council to block any form of statehood to the Palestinian Authority. Over 60,000 of you joined us in this effort last week!

Now it is time for Phase 2. The ACLJ is working with Congress, supporting legislation in both the House and Senate to defund the United Nations if the Palestinian Authority is granted statehood.

The U.S. gave over $7 billion to the U.N. last year and billions more every year -- nearly a quarter of the United Nation’s budget. It's time to pull to the plug on U.S. taxpayer funds for the U.N. and countries that support unilateral statehood.

Add your name to our petition to Congress. The message - simple and direct: If you grant Palestinian statehood, you lose U.S. funding:

Take action today; please sign the Petition to Defund the United Nations and Protect Israel.

America created the international system with the United Nations as its principal institution.

We all know that relations with Israel are a key component in America’s foreign policy, but American foreign policy is not all about relations with Israel. The United Nations is the best forum for managing relationships with a wide range of nations ranging from Brazil in Latin America to Botswana in Africa to Bhutan in South Asia.

The rise of China makes increased diplomacy with all corners of the globe more, not less important. For example, the peace settlement between North and South Sudan would not have been possible without the fora provided by the United Nations General Assembly and Security Council. The same applies to East Timor.

Secondly, there are 48 majority Muslim countries in World. Naturally these nations would be opposed to whatever Israel does. By a quirk of Geology, these nations hold the majority of the World’s proven Oil and Gas reserves. America must conduct diplomacy with these nations until it becomes totally energy independent.

Mark my words, America would be a lot worse off without the United Nations.
