Perry's Drudge problem
Politico ^ | October 4, 2011 | Ben Smith

.....Drudge's editorial decisions replace Perry's message of solid, inspirational, conservatism with an inept, flagging candidate. And while Drudge doesn't exert the broad influence over the scattered media landscape that he did over a more concentrated media five or ten years ago, he still wields immense power, ....

Drudge's relationship with Romney's campaign manager is seen by some Drudge-watchers as a kind of Rosetta Stone, but I've never thought he was quite that predictable. Perry could have emerged on the page as the larger-than-life cowboy political hero his campaign depicts. Instead, he's the bumbling, cartoon version of that character.

Perry does not have a Drudge problem.

He has a debate prep team problem.

I wasn’t necessarily a Perry supporter(my tagline expresses my choice); but, these gratuitous attacks on Perry are making me more of a fan. The MSM/’rats will always tell us who they fear most by their attacks, personal or otherwise.

Perry doesn't have a Drudge problem. Perry has a Perry problem.

Somebody get that boy some Rosetta Stone DVDs pronto.

He should be able to master the English language in no time.

Perry has no one to blame but himself for a series of poor responses in the last debate.

This is why the Perry camp is in trouble. EVERYONE else is to blame for his incompetence.

Perry is almost as think skinned as 0. Rick "not ready for Prime time" Perry

......“It looks like someone in Romneyland has figured out the secret code,” McKinnon said.

Frustrated rivals think they know the secret: a low-profile, hard-driving Republican operative named Matt Rhoades, who is Romney’s campaign manager. Rhoades met Drudge, as POLITICO Editor-in-Chief John F. Harris and co-author Mark Halperin reported in their book “The Way to Win: Taking the White House in 2008,” when he became research director of the Republican National Committee and was introduced by his predecessor on a special trip to Miami. Rhoades has since been seen as a pipeline to the reclusive Drudge, who now has two veteran Washington reporters working on the site as well.

“No one has displaced Matt Rhoades in the Republican firmament as the go-to Drudge guy,” said a top GOP operative who, like others, spoke on condition of anonymity to avoid angering the powerful online entrepreneur.

....“He’s been tough on all of Romney’s rivals,” grumbled another candidate’s aide.

Republican operatives — some of whom read Drudge with Talmudic intensity — point to other clues in Drudge’s decision to link to items, such as a poll by the liberal Public Policy Polling that found just one supporter of Huntsman in its sample of Iowans; a POLITICO item about Gingrich cruising in the Mediterranean and, briefly, a 4-year-old report about Texas Gov. Rick Perry titled “Rick Perry Signs Bill Requiring Girls to Get STD Vaccination.”

Drudge’s most important choice, though, hasn’t been to pound Romney’s rivals. Relatively speaking, it’s been to ignore them......

Perry’s challenge is getting through all the “heartless” primary voters, who once thought he was a solid Conservative.

You nailed it. Since, he announced late in the 3rd quarter, his campaign manager had him running around like a racehorse fund raising. There was NO debate prep at all for him for any of the debates. Well, the estimate of the 3rd quarter is 15 million dollars, he raised. One of the most important factors running for president is how much money can you raise. IF you can’t raise the money, you are out.

If Perry has a problem with anyone in the MSM it’s the Washington Post/Politico cabal. How laughable that this twit tries to tie his problems to Drudge.

This is the candidate we want? Someone who whines and cries to Politico, blaming DRUDGE for his own incompetence at promoting his own ideas and connecting with his own base? Just pathetic. Politics 'aint beanbag, Rick. Grow a pair.

Drudge is a major mover in media? Really? He doesn’t write anything, doe he? His site is nothing but a bunch of links to news stories. Does anybody really pay any attention to him?

I'd blame his own debate performances more than Matt Drudge.

The Rick Perry-ACORN connection explained: A primer for non-Texans ................."If they bought their home under a "Contract for Deed" instead of a "Deed of Trust," being late with just one mortgage payment or failing to adhere to the "terms" of the contract could mean that they forfeited their home. In some cases, the statute required only 15 days to cure any issues. An expedited foreclosure process revoked any claim to the property. Since the title was never transferred to them, the title holder was required to maintain insurance. If the title-holder did not do so (even if the homeowner was paying towards it), there were no funds available to rebuild the homeowner's life. Any money the homeowners put towards building equity in the home was also forfeit.

Their situation caused such outrage that the Texas Legislature took it up during the next session and passed Senate Bill 198, which Governor Perry signed into law on June 13, 2001. It gave homeowners a 60 day window to cure any defaults, required greater transparency prior to purchase, required insurance for the home, and required a check list of assurances that the home had no outstanding liens and was in working order.".................
