House Republicans are now calling for a special counsel to investigate whether Attorney General Eric Holder perjured himself in congressional testimony about the scandalous Fast & Furious program. Specifically, the attorney general claimed on May 3 that he had only “over the last few weeks” heard about the reckless gun-walking program his Justice Department was running with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) — a program in which guns were steered to violent Mexican gangs with predictably lethal results, including the murder of a Border Patrol agent. Contrary to Holder’s testimony, it is now being reported that he had actually been receiving briefings on the program since early summer 2010.

I’m shocked, shocked to hear it.

Likewise, republican acquiescence in placing criminal anarchists like Holder in highly responsible positions of authority can no longer be considered accidental.

We cannot nominate another establishment republican this election cycle. At all costs its gotta be an outsider.

I think in Scooter Libby's case it was a matter of his recollection vs. someone else's recollection--there was no definite proof that what he said was inaccurate, but the jury was not inclined to believe him rather than a liberal journalist.

As I recall, in the White House tapes, Richard Nixon advises someone that perjury is a charge that is hard to prove.

Mr. Holder has a history of stoking racial resentments. In 2009, he quipped that “in things racial” Americans form “a nation of cowards.” In 1996, he told The Washington Post that for 25 years he carried in his wallet a quote from a black preacher that, “No matter how affluent, educated and mobile [a black person] becomes, his race defines him more particularly than anything else.” To which Mr. Holder added: “It really says that … I am not the tall U.S. attorney, I am not the thin U.S. attorney. I am the black U.S. attorney. And [the preacher] was saying that no matter how successful you are, there’s a common cause that bonds the black U.S. attorney with the black criminal or the black doctor with the black homeless person.”
