Free Republic is in all the way. If abortionist, gay rights pushing, gun-grabbing, socialist healthcare mandating, big government, constitution trampling, lying statist Mitt Romney somehow becomes the best the GOP has to offer, then it’s just proof that the GOP is no longer a conservative party and therefore I’m no longer a Republican. I oppose Romney as much and maybe even more than I oppose Obama. Because Romney will turn the GOP into just another progressive party. There will be no opposition party left.
If Romney’s the one, then FR will be in 100% anti-Romney mode.
FUMR!!
Go TEA Party!!
Jim:
The key is for conservatives to coalesce around a candidate.
That was our mistake in 2008 and we may repeat that again in 2012.
Also don’t buy anything that Romney is dishing out on Perry on illegal immigration. Romney supported sanctuary cities in MA and a MA DREAM act.
Even if Cain is his VP? or Marco Rubio?
We were concerned seeing how many in the media and political establishment were trying to push this "Romney is inevitable" argument to preempt the primaries before they even take place and just declare Romney the winner.
So we decided that we could play our role by 'knocking Romney out of the primaries - as a serious contender,' and hopefully ensure a principled conservative is the nominee.
The GOP establishment believes that there is a large block of voters between democrats and republicans.
They believe that they need to moderate their position (read: drift leftwards) to earn the votes of the middle types. This is the GOP strategy for maximizing votes.
I think the GOP establishment needs to know that there is a large block of voters that is to the right of the Republican party. I’m in that block and I cannot allow the GOP to drift leftward anymore.
I held my nose and voted for McCain. Others held their nose while supporting Ahhnold for California Governor. Both were failures.
The GOP establishment assumes that those on the right will simply go-along. We need to change that perception.

I’m going nuclear.
I will not vote for anyone to the left of George W. Bush. In the present crop of candidates, that includes Romney and Huntsman. I will hold my nose and vote for Paul/Perry/Ginrich. I will vote with two hands if the GOP nominee is Cain/Bachmann/Santorum/Palin. But I will not vote for Romney or Huntsman.
You got that GOP?
DAMNED STRAIGHT JIMBO!!! RIGHT ON RIGHT ON RIGHT ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LLS
You forgot man-made-global-warming believing. That's his latest statement on the subject, but don't be surprised if tomorrow he says he changed his mind.
YES!!!
FUMR!!
Go TEA Party!!
No vote for Romney, ever!
Out of curiosity, have you picked a candidate yet? Mine is Herman Cain, and has been for a while.
I see others mentioning that we need to coalesce around a single candidate, and I agree. I think there ought to be a Free Republic Endorsement. How to go about doing that is a whole other ball of worms LOL. But it would be really nice to lead in that manner IMHO.
Thanks for all you do Jim!
Say, how is the healing honey working? Is it still doing its job?
Ditto Jim!
You got that right. Mitt=Obama=Socialism
But a lot of our FReepers are under the weather since the Mark Levin show yesterday.
Let me rephrase that in terms more familiar to their ears:
Monied establishment Republicans, GAME ON!!
Cheers!
The terms Communist, Progressive and Liberal as used by the left, all mean the same thing. Let me explain why. Carl Marx in 1848 finished writing and then published the Communist Manifesto. Over the next 30 to 40 years the book gained some followers, mostly self anointed elites with PHDs. ( Now there is a subject worth some grant money. Why are highly educated people with PHDs so susceptible to such an absurd philosophy.) As people became aware of their agenda, the communists picked the term progressive in an attempt to hide that agenda. Years later, the same problem, to many people have spotted the agenda again so they picked the term liberal. ( Note that the dictionary definitions of progressive and liberal are very far removed from the political definitions.)
One of the goals of their agenda is to infiltrate and take control of both major political parties. The Democrat party is at this time wholly controlled, 90% to 95%. The Republican party is 40% to 45% controlled. This leaves WE THE PEOPLE with very little true representation inside the belt way. We need to flush the progressives from both parties.
This nation’s Citizen’s political views have always been to the right of center. When we argue, left with right, right with left, most of the time we are arguing from the same point of view. Those who view themselves as dictionary definition, progressive or liberal, democrats are on our side, that is, to the right of center. Try to point out who is controlling their party and ask them if that is what they really want.
“If Romneys the one, then FR will be in 100% anti-Romney mode.”
Amen, Jim.
