Newsmax ^ | Oct 7, 2011 | Ted Goldenberg

Republican presidential candidate and businessman Herman Cain says he is open to joining a GOP ticket as vice president, but not if the other name on that ticket is Rick Perry.

Cain told the National Journal, "Based upon Governor Perry's position on some issues, I would not be comfortable being his vice presidential nominee."

Apparently Perry's positions bother Cain, but Romney's positions don't. He is willing to be Romney's VP, but not Perry's.

Cain wouldn't even support Perry in the general election -- and since there it would be Perry vs Obama, he is saying he prefers Obama to Perry.

Cain makes no sense. Who said anyone was going to ask him?

This is strange. Why is Cain giving Mittens a pass when his record is 100% worse than Perry’s? Abortion is just one issue that comes to mind.

Who would want to be VP to Bush III?

Cain is letting Romney know that he, Cain is responsible for Perry’s slide and Romney needs to reward him by offering him the VP slot.

Why on earth would Cain make that statement at all? He’s the lead contender with conservatives at the moment. This sounds like he’s already conceding the primary! It makes no sense at all.

Why would he say he would be willing to be anybody’s second fiddle at this point?

Cain doesn’t have a problem with Romney’s positions because he endorsed him last time. I liked Cain. I had him at #2 on my list, but if he doesn’t have any problems with Romney ... he can look elsewhere for a vote.

I don’t even care what his issues with Perry are. It’s what he willing to accept that bothers me.

Cain has no money, no chance and he knows it, so he is trying to parlay his 15 min of fame into a VP slot for Romney. Of Romney won’t choose him as VP, but Cain thinks he might get that.

Cain would have Romney as a running mate for not Perry? Maybe I don’t want to support Herman Cain after all. Maybe this is the beginning of Cain’s unraveling. First Bachmann then Perry and now Cain. These people better get their act together and get a rationale conservative to bring down Romney.

I would have responded that since no one had yet to win the nomination that I hoped to get for myself it would be to early to say who would be anyones VP.

“Herman Cain Wouldn’t Support Perry As GOP Nominee”

I was listening to the Michael Medved show this week, because Cain was a guest. Medved had been very critical of Cain for saying that. He asked Herman if he would support the eventual nominee no matter who it is.

Herman Cain said he would.

The only one responsible for Perrys’ slide is Perry. Even Cain knows that.

Thank God Cain is not willing to link up with the only OPEN BORDERS candidate in the top tier. Now that would have bothered me.

Ok. So then you agree that there is nothing that Perry can do to fix the “heartless” problem since “he said what he said.”

Thank you.

Well you know Clairity...ABP...Anybody But Perry for some. Even if it means crawling in bed with Romney.

That Perry, he is simply disgusting...his record shows he is in the right area BUT...sheesh....he spoke to LaRaza once...and oh...he accepted an invitation from the Bilderbooger foundation to speak on energy.... Dang...he is one soiled candidate. He’s not perfect.

Immigration...well let’s not even go there. Everyone knows exactly how to run TX, even those from the East Coast, far better than Perry and Texans.
