Not so. Cain called Americans, conservative or not, stupid and clueless. That’s poor statesmanship. I like Cain, and I’m taking a hard look at him. And yes, for me, it’s down to Cain and Perry. There’s no need to rush, there’s time to see how Cain and Perry do over the next 2 - 3 months.

“Well yeah...thank you”

LOL. No I’m not happy with outsiders trying to tell our governor how he should be governing our state, but I’m used to it. We might talk a little slow now and then but that’s okay because we’re always thinking and listening. Except for a few places like El Paso and San Antonio, a lot of our Democrats are Conservatives too. They’re defending Perry. The candidates who have fired shots at Perry (Bachman, Santorum, Cain) have never governed. Never governed. Granted, they’re all achievers. Cain is a heck of an achiever. No question. BUT, you can’t run government like it’s a business. (Right now, Cain’s business is selling books....and auditioning for VP for anyone except Perry.) Government doesn’t know how to be a business. It’s NOT a business. Santorum and Bachman (nice people) are and were just government employees in a small arena. They’re taking shots at someone who is so far out of their league. They would be great talk show hosts. I’d listen to them if they had Rush’s class. I don’t see any difference between them and Sean Hannity though. Perry loves his state. He loves his country. He’s conservative in every important way that Obama is not. America will breathe a sigh of relief to be loved again. I WILL vote for Romney if he’s the candidate. Romney loves America too.

We seem to be in agreement on all points (including my brilliance *snicker*).Well up to the Romney part; I just want to make sure that your Governor is the choice; NOT the pro-abort, pro-gun control, pro-deathcare, pro-global warming and just an all round ahole elitist Romney. But hey, that’s just me :)

Glad we chatted

I will vote for anyone vs. Obama or whoever the Democrat nominee ends up being, but in the primary, I am leaning toward Gain. I wish Gingrich didn’t have such baggage and didn’t have those videos of sitting on the couch with Pelosi.

I saw another post of yours in which you stated:

“I appreciate the vetting process as long as it is constructive and intellectually honest. Unfortunately, much of it is destructive and of no help.”

I totally agree with this statement but do you actually believe that equating what Perry said to what Cain said is constructive and intellectually honest?

You should understand that Perry called the very people who should be a part of his base heartless racists because he wants to give the illegal invaders of our country goodies and perks and we don’t. He is saying, I don’t need your vote you heartless racists. I can get votes from the democrats and illegal invader lovers. Guess what, he won’t get our vote. When I was young they used to say, you have to teach dogs not to crap where they live and people should not do it either. I guess Perry missed that lesson.

Cain stated the truth, there are brainwashed, manipulated people in this country. They are the clueless ones. They could have the truth if they wanted it. Instead, they are being used by people who want to destroy our nation. Will the truth cost Cain votes? Maybe from people who would not have voted for him anyway. But conservatives understand what he was saying completely. He has not lost any of his base by telling the truth.

You are correct about one thing. Unlike what the MSM keeps telling us, we do have time. Just enough time for the country to get to know Herman Cain better. I praise God for that. The more of Cain’s background people learn, the better he looks as a candidate. The more of Perry’s background people learn, the less they like. At least that is the case if you are a conservative.

All I'm saying is that it's poor statesmanship for any candidate or elected representative, conservative or liberal, to characterize voters as heartless, stupid, clueless, misguided, etc. It's not about equating Perry, Cain, or any other candidate. Perry was called on it, and I think that Cain should be, too. As with Perry, it caught my attention immediately when I heard it. For me, it's not a major issue for either Cain or Perry. Over the past +45 years I've heard many politicians characterize voters negatively, it's just not good statesmanship.

I disagree that Perry called anyone racist or implied that anyone is racist. That rock won't hunt.

Being viewed as brainwashed or clueless is a matter of perspective. The left say that we conservatives are brainwashed, clueless, and worse. What I believe is that conservatism works and liberalism/socialism doesn't work. If that means that I'm brainwashed then I'm okay with that. I'll put my ism up against theirs anytime. :) And I have no doubt that liberals feel the same way about their ism.

I am conservative and believe that you are conservative. We have a difference of opinion on some things, but that doesn't make either one of us less conservative than the other. The enemy is Obama, not conservatives vs. conservatives.

One thing I totally agree with Cain on, we need to lighten up and inject some humor. Everyone seems to be really wound tight.

“The enemy is Obama, not conservatives vs. conservatives.”

What you said above is the precise reason why what Perry said stood out so much. It stood out to everyone who heard it. It’s not him calling conservatives the name “heartless” that is disturbing. It is the fact that with that one statement he aligned himself with those who are not conservative even as he pretends to be a conservative. He used liberal tactics. He used liberal words and he holds liberal beliefs. Under the pressure of debate, his mask cracked and he showed himself to be a RINO.

That is precisely why he has fallen. If what Perry did was only about a name, it would not be a problem. That is why I ignore all that silliness about the name on a rock. It is of no consequence. But this situation is not about a name or even a rock. It’s about Perry believing the wrong -isms. That plus his inability to communicate any conservative principles has damaged him. What is even worse, his pitiful attempts at attacking Romney made Mitt look good. That is the last thing we need to have happen.

We disagree on the impact of what Perry did. We agree that Obama is the enemy, but to me any democrat, liberal, socialist, communist or progressive is the enemy and that includes RINOs, party elites, country clubbers and beltway boys.

I support all conservatives but RINOs will not get any votes from me. You may view things differently.

What? I’m sorry. You like Obama or are you just a RINO on the wrong website. ;-)

Never said either way, but apparently you do like Obama, as you’re threatening to do the functional equivalent of voting for him.

Because I won’t vote for your RINO Perry? Oh, I’m so sorry about that. I guess you can call me heartless. We the people who have principles, such as believing in American sovereignty, and obeying the laws of this nation, we just can’t seem to give up our principles.

Well, since you’ve already put one foot in your mouth, you might as well go ahead, make some room, and shove the other one in, too.

I understand your viewpoint with regard to Rick Perry, however, I disagree with you. This is the first time on the national stage for both Cain and Perry, both men have made mistakes and they will, most likely, make more mistakes. I’m in no hurry to write-off either Cain or Perry. I hope that one of them can beat Romney. Let’s see what happens.

That is why I ignore all that silliness about the name on a rock.

You ignore the silliness except for Cain's reaction to it. Cain is well-known for saying he is "American first, black second, and conservative third" --please feel free to Google it.

His quickness to call Perry "insensitive" (just short of "bigot") plays well to the "White Guilt" crowd that got us The Won in The White House.

I was leaning toward Cain after Bachmann's flame-out, but now I am on Full Alert to every single thing he says.

BTW, do we really want someone who places "Conservative" on the third line of his resume' unless the first two lines are "God and Country"?
