“Perry Says Iran Plot Requires Border Security”

A better solution would be to level Iran.

And since when is Perry worried about border security? It wasn’t too long ago that he said “president Fox’s vision for an open border is a vision I embrace”.

good points by both of you.

...so NOW Perry is concerned about the Southern Border?
because of Islamic terror? from the man who praised Islam?

What did Perry say about it LAST YEAR:

I suggest that everyone read the following report about Texas Border Security:

http://www.texasagriculture.gov/vgn/tda/files/1848/46982_Final%20Report-Texas%20Border%20Security.pdf

It was written by two military experts who each have extensive experience. The report seems long, but one can get the meat of it by reading pages 9-15.

Note the recommendations.

.......And since when is Perry worried about border security? It wasn’t too long ago that he said “president Fox’s vision for an open border is a vision I embrace”.

An "open border" with America's #1 trading partner, that shares 1250 miles with Texas alone, has trade -- and an "open border." You refer to a 2001 summit in Mexico which was in part to encourage border security (with obstacles to it expressed) and hope for the best between our countries and all the problems and the benefits that it entails.

If anyone will work to seal the border and enforce the laws it will be Gov. Perry. The other candidates are just blowing smoke and have not dealt with this as Gov. Perry has. Having this kind of border violence helps neither country.

A part of a recent speech:

Perry:......."We’re not going to compromise with our national security. And that is true when it comes to defense spending and when it comes to border security. And let me say this about border security. I have lived and breathed this issue for over a decade as a border governor. I’ve signed budgets that contained a total of $400 million dollars of state security operations along that border. I’ve dealt with the carnage caused by those who traffic in drugs, weapons and people. As border governor, I know first hand the failures of our federal border policies and I know the answers to those failures is not to grant amnesty to those who broke the laws to come into this country.

I was proud to sign legislation requiring a photo voter ID to vote in order to protect the integrity of our elections. And for the obvious security reasons, I vetoed legislation to give drivers licenses to illegal aliens. There is no homeland security without border security. Let me repeat that, there is no security without border security. And make no mistake about it, what we are seeing south of our border is nothing short of a war being waged by these narco-terrorists. They represent a clear and a present danger to our country - they are spreading violence to American cities; they are peddling poisons to our children. In the face of this threat, we shouldn’t take any operations off the table, including security operations in cooperation with the Mexican government, as we did with Columbia some years ago. You can’t have liberty - you can’t have opportunity - you can’t have prosperity, without security.".....

Nope, never heard any such thing. I suggest you print your sources with a direct link or it didn’t happen. Perry has teams on the border and has for years. He does support a border fence in urban areas and wants boots on the ground and aviation support in rural areas. Obama has refused everything. You are merely a smear merchant.
