David Axelrod: Herman Cain not a serious contender
Politico ^ | Oct 17, 2011 | Tim Mak

David Axlerod took a swing at Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain Monday, saying that he thought Cain’s 9-9-9 proposal would hurt the poor and the middle class.

The senior Obama adviser called Cain an “intruiging personality” on “Morning Joe,” but took a shot at the Republican candidate’s tax proposal, saying, “I think his plan deserves scrunity … I don’t think it’s good for most Americans.”

“I think you’ve got to add the 9-9-9 up, get to 27 percent, and that’s probably what poor and middle-class people will end up paying once the thing is implemented,” Axlerod said.

Despite the attention suddenly being heaped on the former Godfather’s Pizza CEO, Axelrod said Cain was not going to be a top-tier contender in the 2012 election.

“I think, when you look at the resources and when you look at the standing, that Perry and Romney are likely to be duking it out at some point here,” said Axlerod.

Whether you agree with all aspects of the 9-9-9 plan or not, Herman Cain has put forth an idea with more specificity than anything the current occupant of the White House has ever proposed!

Which leads me to ask which man is really not “a top-tier” candidate?!

“I think his plan deserves scrutiny . . .

. . . just don't scrutinize my candidate, Baraq Obama. His plan has already been proven not to be good for most Americans.

Please go on thinking that and saying that.

This from a guy who's boss said he'd visited "all 57 states."

Axlerod was joined on MSNBC by his wife, Susan Axlerod, who was there to promote the Citizens United for Research in Epilepsy benefit, being held on Monday. Susan Axlerod is the chair of the organization.

Whaddaya bet her charity receives taxpayer money and she is very well salaried for her work. Elites are entitled and deserve your admiration and money, . . . or else.

Next time, he will try reverse psychology. Cain is their worst nightmare. If Cain is the nominee, we will see Dim racism like never before.

IN the next few months, when it becomes apparent that Mitt Romney can’t buy a vote over 25%, Mr. Axelrod will discover that he “needs to spend more time with his family” and quietly bow out.

Actually this tells you how they will attack it- much in the same way Bachman and other have. That he said “27%” is the giveaway. They will attack it by saying that 999 hurts the poor, and it is inadequate, and because it is inadequate it will have to go up and hurt the poor even more.

Cain is not without retort, however.

Notice that Ron Paul is working on a new plan, similar to Ryan, to cut $1 Trillion in spending. This has to be Cain’s next move to win the GOP primary. He has to show that 999 raises the same amount of money that the current code does - but then he can show how we can actually cut the budget and use the surplus to pay down our debt - after which 999 will drop to 777 or even 555!
