HANOI, Vietnam (AP) The siren's wail at the historic Metropole Hotel sent American folk singer Joan Baez and other guests scampering across a garden and into an underground bunker. Even through five feet of concrete, they could still hear the roar of American bombs raining on parts of Hanoi.

Too bad we didn`t have bunker busters then and got
Baez`s sorry lefty butt.Hope the ##tch cried for a yr.
Don`t know how far it is from Hanoi to Quang Tri but
we could hear that bombing there.
Uh, they're running for their lives to get to the bunker, during a bombing raid, and someone happens to bring a guitar along? Sorry, I have a hard time believing that.
You said exactly the same thing I was thinking. I was in Danang, ‘68-’69. I’d have gladly shot the bitch.

Baez, Fonda and the like should have been specifically targeted, or at least denied reentry into the U.S.
Metropole Hotel ping
What a crock. Chinese businessmen are moving factories from China to Vietnam because they only have to pay Vietnamese workers $100 a month. So millions of Vietnamese, and 55,000 American Soldiers, died so they could throw out the rich fat cats so they could get new rich fat cats driving Bentleys and paying $10 for a drink. There, you have communism in all its glory. We want the money and power and can’t get it through normal political means because everyone would realize we’re just a bunch of greedy sh_theads, so we tell all the stupid people we’re going to take money from the rich and give it to them if they’ll just help us fight the rich. Then, they take over and start sopping up the gravy while the stupid people wonder what happened and why so many had to die to keep things the same but with new masters. Look up “Ungrateful, Stupid Bastards” on any internet search engine, and the first thing that comes up is a map of Vietnam.
Hanoi to Quang Tri province looks to be about 500 km. That must’ve been some action. ;-)
