Forest 'roadless rule': environmental victory or US job-killer?
Christian Science Monitor ^ | October 22, 2011 | Patrik Jonsson,

Environmentalists on Saturday hailed as one of the biggest conservation victories in decades a federal court ruling that upheld a "roadless rule" to protect massive swaths of national forest.

But while the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals on Friday removed a lower court's block on the "roadless rule," the Clinton-era order protecting over 50 million acres of prime federal forests from timber and mining companies could leave President Obama vulnerable to charges similar to those levied against the White House after the Gulf drilling moratorium: that the administration is unfriendly toward extractive industries that utilize the nation's natural wealth and create American jobs.

When the roads are outlawed, only the outlaws will have roads. Into the forest. To the marijuana plantation. Without any pesky law enforcement driving by.

The courts (judicial branch) can’t do anything
that a congress (legislative branch) can’t undo.

SSoooo,
Instead of thinning the forests to help keep them healthy the gubmint wants us to do what has been happening in the Flagstaff area.
No logging so instead of say 95 trees per acre there is like 360 and as a result they are becomomg unhealthy.
No undergrowth clearing so it all becomes a fire trap and hazard, but hey, some beauracrat with an inkling of power knows best just like in the early days of the Soviet Union.

Not as easily done, unless you are meaning the nation following here after America.

Breast mint (caution, NSFW, boobies)

"Environmentalists [Pensioners and local government employees living on the Rockies] on Saturday hailed as one of the biggest conservation victories in decades a federal court ruling that upheld a "roadless rule" to protect massive swaths of national forest."

Wake up. Some of us call it "First Settler Syndrome." They don't want any working class men or kids living, working or playing on their land (all that they can see) on their mountains. Elite and sole arbiters of nature, they are, Democrats, Republicans and all.

We need a national housecleaning. Cut revenues and pensions to get rid of the problem.
