Supercommittee Dems push for stimulus to be part of deficit deal

Democrats on the congressional supercommittee this week presented Republicans with a plan to cut the deficit that included billions of dollars in stimulus spending, aides told The Hill.

In a private meeting of the deficit panel Tuesday, Sen. Max Baucus (D-Mont.), chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, presented a proposal backed by a majority of Democrats on the panel that includes more than a trillion dollars in tax increases. The revenue would partially cover stimulus spending for the economy, aides said.

More than 50 percent of the deficit reduction in the plan would come from tax increases, one source said.

The plan from Democrats approaches the $3 trillion in deficit reduction that was included in the "grand bargain" that lawmakers debated over the summer.

In the first place, it's an unconstitutional committee.
Why hire congresscritters to represent us if they don't work the problem ?

EVERYTHING we hear out of these jackwagons indicates that the “supercommittee” was a really BAD idea.

Thanks, Boner. Thanks, Mitch. You stupid jackasses.

Send a democrat in to cut spending and they propose spending more. These corruptocrats need to be removed from office, immediately.

“”this week presented Republicans with a plan to cut the deficit that included billions of dollars in stimulus spending,””

These people are geniuses....but then so is the writer of this piece. I read that to mean that “the deficit included billions of dollars in stimulus spending” and I thought that was pretty honest reporting! The deficit DOES include billions of dollars in stimulus spending.

Guess that’s not the way I was supposed to read it tho’!!

What does the writer mean that the supercommittee submitted the plan to Republicans? The democrats don’t need to take a look at it???

Eee gads! Give us much more of this foolishness and we won’t even now (or care) when they lead us off to the camps or the ovens! We’ll all be brain dead by then..

We need to remember that if this committee fails, there are automatic budget cuts enforced. So, any deal that comes out of this committee must be better than those cuts, or should just take door number 1. Budget cuts can be won by just running out the clock.

Obama wants to side-step Congress to become a banana republic potentate by way of edicts and Executive Orders, and we’ve turned everything else over to a Marxist Central Planning Committee. We no longer live in America.

What the hell happened to the 800 plus BILLION we already spent on "stimulus"? Where did it go besides union coffers? Did it actually create any jobs? And another 500 Billion will all of a sudden "work"?

Raising taxes? This would be like buying an alcoholic a case of Cutty Sark. First step is to cut OFF the booze.

NPR was interesting today.

They touched on Herman Cain. His 9-9-9 tax plan? Ludicrous! Stupid! Not gonna happen!
They touched on Rick Perry. His proposed 20% flat tax? Ludicrous! Stupid! Not gonna happen!

They touched on the Super Committee and it's mandate to save the budget. Cut spending???? Are you mad?? No cuts! None! Well ... Defense, of course. Sure, we can cut defense ...

They touched on the Super Committees "other" mandate: raise revenue. Yeah. Well, all the experts agree. Highly Progressive tax schemes are great. Soak the rich. Poor people need stuff. Rich people have stuff, so Tax! Tax! Tax! Quite simple, really.

They've learned nothing.

Democrats on the congressional supercommittee are sucking up to Obama and their constituents should be made aware of what they are doing.

“”Democrats on the congressional supercommittee are sucking up to Obama “”

I saw on the news tonight that Sheila Jackson Lee had a front row seat in the meeting room. Can’t put anything over on that broad. She has to be front and center in everything even if she’s not part of the group.
