(CNN) – A tea party group has a surprising and harsh urging for long-time tea party favorite Michele Bachmann: quit the presidential race.

"It's time for Michele Bachmann to go," reads the first line of a statement from American Majority President Ned Ryun. His group operates in seven states, trains thousands of tea party supporters and is "liked" by over 371,000 people on Facebook.

"Bachmann, the leader of the so-called tea party caucus in the House and the most vocal about her affiliation with the Tea Party than any other Presidential candidate, has consistently presented herself as a champion of the movement and its values," Ryun's statement continued.

Agreed. She took her best shot and couldn’t sustain. She has no shot of rebounding.

That Carnival Cruise Captain halloween outfit she wore at the last debate was bizarre and distracting.

Take Huntsman, Santorum, and that Heavens Gate look alike with you. It’s down to Cain, Gingrich, Perry, and the communist with the hair.

I agree. I like Bachman, but she’s not getting anywhere.

Agreed she needs to get out so we can consolidate the anti-Romney vote and strengthen it. She also should endorse Cain.

A couple of days ago Bachmann said (on Hannity) that Cain’s and Obama’s position on abortion are the same. Bachmann claims that the 999plan has a VAT tax. These statements are incorrect and gives the impression that she will say anything to move up in the polls. She hurts both the flat tax and prolife movements with these statements.

They can go too and good riddance. Sorry that Michelle B. did not do better.

I hate these ‘winner take all’ primaries. Romney could win it even thought 70% of the people wanted someone more conservative

It’s what I’ve been saying from the start. She simply isn’t qualified to run for President. She was re-elected by the Tea Party specifically to lead the new group of young conservative congressmen who were elected to office last fall.

Instead, she has been wasting her time fund-raising and campaigning, and ignoring what’s going on in congress.

Why wasn’t she there to speak out when Boehner repeatedly betrayed us on the budget, and gave Obama 99% of what he asked for? Why wasn’t she there to speak out when Obama started several wars without consulting with congress? (Yes, I know, the Senate is supposed to do foreign policy, but the House provides the budget, and it was the House that the Republicans controlled, supposedly.

She has lost an incredible amount of momentum. She has failed to do what she was elected to do. She did well in the previous term. Let’s hope she gets back to work and stars doing well again.

Someone needs to rub Boner’s nose in the dirt, for starters.

The only reason that CNN would run with this story is give the impression that the conservative and or teaparty movement is fracturing or there is infighting,

Yea. That and the fact that she’s in over her head and isn’t qualified to be President.

And why isn’t this group asking for the others to go? Seems to me that they have another agenda here.

“Agreed she needs to get out so we can consolidate the anti-Romney vote and strengthen it. She also should endorse Cain.”

While I think it is a laudible goal to consolidate the vote against Romney....I don’t think anyone should be telling Bachman to leave the race. If anyone should be told to leave it is Ron Paul. He isn’t really a Republican, just a Libertarian that runs as a Republican. When he is told to leave, then I will have no problems with others asked to leave.
