Does anyone know for certain if Haaretz is considered to be a more reliable source than, say Debka? It seems that often when I read these Haaretz-sourced articles on FR, they quote anonymous sources, like this one, “A senior Israeli official”, and there aren’t cross-reports in other Israeli media. It also seems, to the best of my recollection, the predictions in Haaretz haven’t been known to be reliable.

I’m open to being corrected about this.

Haaretz is liberal, to be sure. However, quoting anonymous “senior govt officials” is not something unique to their paper. I have found their reporting on defense issues fairly straightforward. In the end, they realize they’re still Israelis and in equal danger from the nation’s enemies. However, their commentary/opinion on the same issue is somewhere slightly right of Code Pink.
