John Tierney’s stepson says he was fired from family’s gambling ring (US Rep., D-MA)

The wild-child stepson of U.S. Rep. John Tierney was so strung out on drugs, booze and betting that he was fired twice as a bookie and debt collector for his family’s Internet gambling empire, John Chew testified yesterday at his uncle’s racketeering trial under a grant of immunity from prosecution.

“After I was thrown off the island the second time, I wasn’t allowed to have anything to do with SOS,” said Chew, 37, referring to the Antigua headquarters of Sports Off Shore, which prosecutors allege was run by Tierney’s brothers-in-law Robert and Daniel Eremian, employed their late father, “Big Bob” Eremian, and illegally took in some $22 million in sports wagers from Bay State bettors alone. Daniel Eremian is on trial in U.S. District Court in Boston on racketeering, illegal gambling and money laundering charges. His brother Robert, facing the same charges, is a fugitive.

One of those bettors was former fitness tycoon David Laird of Weston, a “bored” multimillionaire and father of four, who yesterday told jurors he was placing $10,000 bets on each of “many, many games” in a single week — and the losses were piling up.

“I thought I could beat the system. I was very wealthy,” Laird said. “There were times I think I wrote checks to (SOS), or wire transfers, for $30,000 or $40,000 in a month.”

A towering, square-jawed baritone, Chew said he answered phones and took bets for SOS — typically assigning new customers a code number so they could log on to the Web site and open an account. He also determined the maximum they could lose in a week and still be able to pay up. His mother, Patrice Tierney, 60, married the Democratic congressman from Salem in 1997 when, prosecutors allege, her siblings were firing up their online operation in a Caribbean paradise.

But Chew said he frequently fell out of favor with SOS because, “I was pretty screwed up on drugs and gambling and other extracurricular activities he (Robert Eremian) wasn’t too happy with.”

Patrice Tierney did a month in prison this year for helping Robert Eremian, 59, file false tax returns.

Chew said he was brought in to grand juries at least four times between 1997 and last year to testify about his family. On one such occasion, he said, “I came in from a hangover after partying all night.”

After the news broke of Patrice Tierney's involvement and she got a slap on the wrist, John Tierney was re-elected (despite a huge presence of lawn signs for the Republican challenger, Bill Hudak...but signs don't vote. Friends of corrupt Dems do)

Hello, Tierney's Laundry. Money a specialty.

The article does mention he's a Dem. At this point all 10, soon to be 9, U.S. Reps from MA are Dems (Olver--who will retire to make the gerrymandering easier, Neal, McGovern, Frank, Tsongas, Tierney, Markey, Capuano, Lynch, Keating)

Democratic U.S. Congressional candidate John Tierney and his girlfriend Patrice Chew wave to supporters at election night headquarters in Salem, Mass., in the early morning hours of Wed., Nov. 6, 1996.

Patrice Tierney did a month in a country club “prison” for helping to launder over 8 million dollars for her criminal family. Any guesses how long you’d be in prison for laundering 8 million dollars? I’m guessing I’d be locked up for a bit more than a month.
