I really want to hear the driver's side of this story. The video of the passengers being interviewed makes me suspicious. Isn't it odd that nobody talks about what was actually said during the trip? They sent a camera crew out to interview these people. Nobody had anything to say about any exchanges between the driver and passengers? What was the old man saying that promted her to throw him off the bus? I could be completely off the mark here but was the driver a white woman? Were a bunch of riders giving her a hard time? Or was just being a b****?
Anyhow, she is certainly going to be fired for this (unless she's union) but I think there is more going on here than is being reported.
Sorry, that should have been “Or was SHE just being a b****?”
If all that was needed was a driver, couldn't a passenger have done it?
How can anyone be locked in a bus, other than a prison bus?
Nobody could kick out a window?
I would have thought she’d promptly complain to either the police or Greyhound. Funny that it wasn’t Greyhound management, but police, that forced the driver back on.
He opened the door, deployed the emergency chute, slide down, walked to the parking lot, got in his car, and drove home..
Who is John Gault?
I dreamt I was a bus driver who did that once. Only once.
I going to guess what happened is a passenger was being unruly (vile, vulgar, etc) and she threw him off the bus. The rest of the passengers likely objected to what they saw as an over-reaction or perhaps racism then probably taunted, threatened, verbally abused the driver until she got fed up and left. Again this is just a wild guess.
Given that her race was NOT mentioned in the interviews of passengers, I doubt it. ymmv
Yep, I bet there’s a lot more to this story. I would love to hear an audiotape of what went on in that bus.
They let women drive buses now?
Time for Greyhound to copy the airlines & install ‘locked doors to the drivers’ seat’.
Bus drivers should be protected from disruptive passengers -who can cause accidents - worse than texting or cell phone use.
Or increase employment by hiring ‘bus attendants’ like the airlines. Raise rates to accommodate the added staff.

I’m guessing this driver has experienced this sort of alleged passenger abuse in the past. She may have even reported it reported it to Greyhound and the cops, but in ACLU/lawyer ruled America, nothing was done.
She probably just came to the conclusion that it just wasn’t worth the trouble dealing with these types any more, uttered f#%k it and punted.
“Cape Girardeau”
Must be Rush’s fault!
Take the Bus and leave the driving to Us (passengers that is.....)

It's traditional to read articles before commenting on them.
I've had that happen several times while riding a bus. Usually though the wait was only for an hour or so.
Only thing I could say to those Greyhound passengers is “Be glad Greyhound isn't an airline!”
I’m not sure why you want to jump to the conclusion it had something to do with race. Don’t you think if it did, the passengers would have been sreaming holy hell about their “racist” bus driver? Jesse Jackson would have been down there by now. The fact that nobody is even hinting that race has anything to do with it would lead me to the opposite theory that you posed.
Greyhound’s national slogan:
“Buses. Mass transit for mass murders.”
I think I would have fought the bus driver for the keys, started the bus up, and driven the rest of the way to the next major station even without a CDL and the chauffeur endorsement. Are those Greyhound buses Class A or B rigs?
Even if I got arrested the passengers would be happy.
