In fact one of Khadafi’s weird quirks was a reallllly strong affirmative action program for black Africans —there was and is a real divide there in Libya between Arabs and “real” Africans.
I heard that this had been a sore point, and that Khadafi being back on the ropes really brought that ill-will to the fore:
I heard that in areas captured by the rebels they were simply walking up to blacks, accusing them of being Khadafi henchmen, and simply executing them —many cases in large groups.
