He’s not saying it happened but he’s not saying it didn’t; if it didn’t, and they’re planning to roll out a full denial once the report airs, then this is the worst bit of lawyerly media strategy since Jerry Sandusky’s attorney let him phone in to Bob Costas.

Strange response indeed...

Pardon, your desperation is showing. No more Rinos is not negotiable. Bring on the Bimbos, still supporting the most conservative candidate who can win.

Katrina Trinko over at the corner notes:

When talking to various social conservatives about Newt Gingrich’s personal baggage, there was a lot of willingness to forgive and forget. But there was no one who suggested that adultery was a personal matter voters shouldn’t be concerned about. It’s easy to see how this statement from Cain’s lawyer could alienate social conservative voters.

From my perspective, one party to an affair does not “accuse” the other party of having an affair unless the affair is with someone else.

If the affair is one that the person reporting the affair was involved in, it’s not an accusation, it’s a confession.

Whether the confession is true or not is another matter; it’s just not an accusation.

And Cain is not exactly denying the truth of it.

In my opinion the cumulative weight of all of this has put the Cain Train off the tracks.

Just another sleazy hit piece from the MSM. Who cares if he had an affair? That’s none of my business. That’s between Cain, his wife and God. Nope - for liberals, sex is not a private matter - if you’re Republican! Just disgusting!

too many stories; too many stories to discount; all too common problem amongst powerful men in corporate america, they reach high levels and start grabbing for extramarital brass rings;

Add this to the problem that in any interview you have to only ask him 3 foreign policy questions in a row to utterly and devastatingly expose his lack of depth for the office. Its obvious that he hasn’t developed a habit of reading the conservative and/or liberal foreign policy journals that are on the shelf at any well stocked magazine rack. I read them and can answer better than him.

It’s amazing, they really will not allow a real candidate on the ballot will they! Such a Banana Republic we have become.

It’s Mittens and Shillery or nothing. See. Your free, you can vote for your choice!

If an old affair sinks Cain, why shouldn’t an old affair sink Newt? We’ll get Romney before it’s all over.

And yet we hear nothing from the media about Bambi’s homosexual affair with his Paki college student friend and Larry Sinclair and the other gays in Rev. Wright’s racist Chicago church, the Man’s Country Fag Club/Bath house on the North Side.... etc. What about the murder/execution of the choir members that were also on the down-low with Bambi?

Circular firing squad for social conservatives. Set up by liberal conspirators.

Social Conservatives: the RATs are playing you like a violin.

But there was no one who suggested that adultery was a personal matter voters shouldn’t be concerned about.

Personally I couldn't care less. So now we've moved beyond charges of sexual harassment that weren't substantiated and we've arrived at adultery charges. I don't care. We're dangerously close to the point of no return in economic terms after four years of Obama and I'm not going to be distracted by personal BS surrounding possible opponents. I'm looking at Cain as a potential employee to take Obama's place in the White House - his marital issues are a matter for him and his wife.

How long was the newt affair on his first wife, how long was the newt affair on his second wife. How many more government workers that we do not know about yet. On one hand you have a man that loves his only wife of 43 years, on the other hand you have a fat slug with a track record and a trophy wife. Who are you gong to believe me are your own lying eyes.

A question that has to be asked of ANY of these accusers is: “Why did you not come forward when Mr. Cain ran for Senate?”

I think it’s a valid question.
