My friend has an autistic son who is bullied in school. They've tried to get some action taken, especially in light of all the talk about anti-bullying initiatives.
I explained to him that the problem is that his autistic son isn't gay.
They don't label it as such, but the anti-bullying campaign is ONLY about gay kids. They don't give a flying crap about any hetero kids get picked on.
Occasionally some school parents do try to get some steam up about “generic” bullying, reference for example the tragic suicide of the girl that got Facebook attacked at the behest of the mother of another student. But I’m not surprised to hear the focus seems primarily upon shielding gays who go out of their way to appear weird.
