The 'nuclear option' for Cordray

President Obama announced that he will travel to Kansas this week to echo President Theodore Roosevelt’s call for a New Nationalism and a fair deal for all Americans. But his progressive supporters may want him to emulate a different Roosevelt precedent.

The Obama administration has been embroiled in a fight with congressional Republicans over whether to confirm Richard Cordray to head the watchdog Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Over the summer, congressional Republicans refused to actually adjourn Congress fearing that the president would make a recess appointment and install a CFPB head without Senate approval. They remained in technical “pro-forma” sessions rather than adjourn and go home.

Obama has, I’m sure, a long list of detestable nominees that he is gonna cram right up our mmmm.....mmmmm....mmmmmmms the moment he has the opportunity.
