Really its just a coincidence!!!
Well done, FRiend.
Thanks.
Again?
I thought it would be the Chinese this time around....
(I know it is a past history thread)
Surprise at Pearl was understandable, somewhat. Surprise at Manila after they knew about the Pearl Harbor attack always puzzled me.
Payback was the mother of all bitches!
If we had the atomic bomb back then, the Japanese would not have attacked us.
Obama wants us to do away with such weapons.
It is clear, by reading all of the nice Freeper posts about ww2, the newspaper articles, along with reading some history, that this “surprise attack” really wasn’t all that “surprising”.
The Japanese could not have been more clear in their intentions, and FDR largely ignored the warnings, and the US was surprisingly ill prepared to react to a war with Japan, let alone Japan and Germany.
MacArthur had a MUCH Better PR “Machine” than ADM Kimmel or LtGen Short had.
THE REAL BREAKING NEWS is Obama then apologized for US that we attacked back and called Putin and said yo dude your campaign sounds like mine.
again??
Oh wait, just noticed the date...
Sadly, the debacle at Pearl Harbor could have been easily prevented, had FDR followed the advice of his former Pacific Fleet Commander, Admiral J.O. Richardson:

But Roosevelt had no interest in moving the fleet back to San Diego, and taking the necessary steps to prepare for combat. He wanted the U.S. in the war as soon as possible, and the fleet at Pearl Harbor provided an invitation for a Japanese attack.
Sadly, few Americans today have heard of Admiral Richardson, or his courageous stand. If Richardson’s proposals had been followed, thousands of American boys might have lived to a ripe old age, and told their grandchildren how a military disaster was averted at Pearl Harbor.
