Why Ron Paul Will Win Iowa
Forbes ^ | 120611 | John Thorpe

Posted on 12/07/2011 6:26:55 PM PST by Fred

It is my belief that, in one month, Ron Paul will shock the world and win the Iowa Caucuses.

Granted, that belief goes against all the polling data and all the money data and all the common sense in the world. Mitt Romney has all the money in the world, and has the national party secretly/silently pulling for him to win. Newt Gingrich has the lead in the polls and seems to have caught fire at just the right time. Michele Bachmann is from a neighboring state, and, well, you never know.

Even Rick Santorum has an outside shot at a decent showing, based on his practically living in the state this year.

But Ron Paul has the one thing that you cannot buy, you cannot fake, and you cannot manufacture: genuine enthusiasm and a team of dedicated volunteers. His team on the ground in Iowa is one of the best that has ever been assembled. Iowa Governor Terry Branstad doesn’t think Paul will win outright, but sees him finishing in second place with a very solid 15 to 18 percent of the vote.

“Ron Paul has got probably the best organization and has a very loyal following. He’s got more yard signs and bumper stickers than anybody else,” he said to Politico. “I don’t think he’ll win, but I think he will get 15 to 18 percent. The person who wins is going to probably get 25 percent plus.”

That would be even worse than Newt or Mitt winning Iowa.

Bull****. There’s not enough weed and fast food to make that happen.

Which includes a man who, one of my dearest friends, has nothing but good to say about, the former head of the Christian Civic League of Maine, Mike Heath, now a pastor and top aide to Dr. Paul in Iowa.

Wow. I did not know yard signs and bumper stickers meant a person would win a caucuses. No need to cast a vote, then.

Let me preface this post with saying that there is a lot that I disagree with the man about.

However, he has a lot more going for him than his libertarian stance.

No shock to me, if it happens.

Paul people are radical true believers.

However, Iowa is his only chance of any state.

I saw my first Ron Paul bumper sticker on Saturday the 3rd. It was posted in someone’s window.

That would serve to only diminish Iowa’s importance in the national primary process. And I don’t believe Iowa has as much klout as they once did as it is.

Ron “No Borders” Paul would send the 1st Marine Division to the Mexican border to drag every Mexican within sight into America. Those who refused would be forced, at gunpoint, over the border by elite Navy SEALS teams.

Totally ridiculous statement with no basis in fact.

He has voted in the past to build a border fence.

It's that not-enough-voters-supporting-him thing that'll trip him up, though... Remember Howard Dean's great numbers heading into Iowa in early 2004? He finished a distant third, and after his screamfest that night, never recovered.

Paul is the voice of bored potheads. He's not going anywhere.

That was creepy. Have to hand it to him, he knew it was coming.

From the footage of 2007, he told us where Bin Laden was.

If Paul knew, many others knew at that time and didn't do anything. Wait, thats not entirely true, we did send more taxpayer money in the tune of billions to the Pakistan Government.

We pay way too much money for countries to be our friends and get zero in return.
