Gingrich Campaign Says Romney Appears 'Desperate'

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) - Newt Gingrich's presidential campaign hit back at GOP rival Mitt Romney on Friday, saying criticism by the former Massachusetts governor's campaign seemed desperate. "What we're seeing from Mitt Romney in Boston is desperation and panic and I think that's going to be very frustrating to people moving forward," said Iowa state Rep. Linda Upmeyer, one of Gingrich's surrogates here, referring to Romney's campaign headquarters in Massachusetts. "That isn't what wins you caucuses or elections here in Iowa."

Former Rep. Greg Ganske, who was elected to Congress in 1994 and served under Gingrich when he was speaker of the House, suggested Romney only wanted to use the caucuses to tear down Gingrich ahead of the New Hampshire primary.

"Maybe he doesn't care. Maybe he doesn't care about winning Iowa. He just wants to tear down the speaker here and then focus on New Hampshire," Ganske said.

Analysis seems reasonable.

If Romney ducks the debate, it is confirmed.

I’ll be watching tonight’s debate. I hope it’s as much fun as I’m expecting.

At the moment, I appear desperate as it seems I will have to vote for one of these two.

It's part of a $3.1 million ad buy

Yes, I'd call that expenditure desperate!

Dear Lord.

Romney interview with Fox’s Bret Baier. The really important part starts around the two minute mark:

I believe that someone dubbed it “mittens has kittens”. :)

Romney is coming to the bleak reality that it is difficult to win primary elections when 70 percent of Republican voters don’t want him. They don’t want him to the extent that they want Newt more. That has to be tough for an egotist like him, and tough for the GOP elite who thought they could control the sheep.

Beyond depressing that I will have to vote for either Gingrich or Romney. If that’s the choice, of course I will support Gingrich. But it’s like choosing a heart attack over cancer, if given a choice. I am pissed that we can’t have a legitimate, consistent, articulate conservative to go up against the unrepentant Marxist next year. If we get Newt, I know damn well we will get an amnesty push within months, and the mere modification of ObamaCare, never its repeal. I also do not trust the man at all. But I trust Mittens even less. I HATE THIS “CHOICE”!
