I wonder if Glenn Beck's head is exploding...

Or if he is bawling again. LOL.

After hearing NG the last few months, here’s my two cents: He’s getting his (conservative) act together.

TIMID. The one word that said it all in last nights debate.

Transcript:

GOVERNOR MITT ROMNEY: 22:08:29:00 And I'm president of the United States, I will exercise sobriety, care, stability. And make sure that in a setting like this, anything I say that can affect a place with-- with rockets going in, with people dying, I don't do anything that would harm that-- that process.

22:08:47:00 And therefore, before I made a statement of that nature, I'd get on the phone to my friend Bibi Netanyahu and say, "Would it help if I said this? What would you like me to do? Let's work together, because we're partners." I'm not a bomb thrower, rhetorically or literally.

DIANE SAWYER: 22:09:00:00 Under the rules, we need-- your response. (APPLAUSE)

SPEAKER NEWT GINGRICH: 22:09:05:00 I think sometimes it is helpful to have a president of the United States with the courage to tell the truth, just as was Ronald Reagan who went around his entire national security apparatus to call the Soviet Union an evil empire and who overruled his entire State Department in order to say, "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall." Reagan believed the power of truth restated the world and reframed the world. I am a Reaganite, I'm proud to be a Reaganite. I will tell the truth, even if it's at the risk of causing some confusion sometimes with the timid.

That exchanged said it all when it comes to the differences in these two men.

Romney made it clear in that exchange that he's nothing but a weather vane. No core convictions. No backbone. He would require approval in polls and the U.N. before he could overcome his own indecisive paralysis. A guy that has to make "phone calls" before he can take a stand is not what we need.

The complete transcript of that exchange can be found here.

For all of Newt’s shortcomings (remember, the Clintonistas said they were voting for a president, not the Pope), I like that he intends to appoint John Bolton as Sec of State if elected.

Newt, the man that “expert” political analyists said would never get out of the single digits in the polls; the man running his campaign on a shoe string; the man that evangelicals and Tea Party folks would never endorse...That NEWT?
Gingrich has made them all look like fools. What they (the Roves, Coulters, Noonans)didn’t consider is Newt’s brilliance and America is starved for a president that knows history, the constitution, tells the truth on sticky issues despite the potential damage, educates not only the voters but the pundits and has not bashed the other gop candidates. WOOT WOOT!!! I LOVE NEWT! it is great news. I find myself looking forward to the gop debates now..in the past they were rather boring and the same ole, same ole...Newt is the spark!

Hi Jim,

Prayers for Newt, and all the Republican candidates to be on their best behavior and promote conservative values in this primary period.

Gingrich also enjoys huge leads among “conservative” and “very conservative” voters.

When so-called conservatives continuously vote for the likes of Newt Gingrich and John McCain its no wonder this country is being flushed down the toilet.

The article makes a point of "but Mitt Romney's big lead in New Hampshire remains..." but then it appears they only have data to report on FL and SC. They throw out the tidbit as if they have some new info on NH. What gives?

I think we would all do well to remember two maxims here:

First, the old saying goes that “Perfect is the enemy of good”. Newt is clearly not perfect...but I think he is the definition this year of the Bill Buckley standard; namely, the most conservative candidate that can win. He can win because he would make Obama look like a fool in a debate. Bachmann, Santorum may have better conservative creditials, but they cant win. MB isn’t ready for prime time and Santorum just really isn’t either. I probably agree with them slightly more than Newt, but Newt can win and thats the difference.

Second, Chuck Noll, coach of the Steelers used to say with regards to the prospect of acquiring new players in mid season “help is NOT on the way”. I like Sarah Palin and Haley Barbour (sp?), I really do. But they chose not to run, so we can’t be caught endlessly daydreaming in the land of “what if”. We must focus on “what is”, and what is, right now in the presidential primary, is Newt Vs. Romney. Given that choice, right now, the pick seems obvious.

Its really a reverse of Brutus’ speech to the Romans: Not that I loved Newt so much more, but that I love Romney less...and Obama least of all.

Our Tea Party Group is behind Newt all the way here in Florida. He is capable of tearing apart Obama and his cronies.
AND HE WILL!

I don’t knoiw if Gingrich will be the nominee or not, but in the meantime, I wish his advisors would get him on a crash diet. If for no reason other tha his health, at age 68, he could stand to lose about 80 Lbs.
